En esta ocasión tan especial, nos hemos reunido los maestrantes de lingüística, junto a los distinguidos profesores, tanto magísteres como doctores, que forman parte activa de este centro de estudios. El objetivo principal de nuestro encuentro fue desarrollar un foro profundamente relevante, centrado en la enseñanza de la lengua en contextos emergentes. Este tema cobra particular importancia al considerar los desafíos y los posibles contratiempos que puede generar el uso creciente de la inteligencia artificial y otras herramientas tecnológicas avanzadas en la producción de textos.
La Inteligencia Artificial: Un Recurso y un Desafío para la Enseñanza
Si bien es indiscutible que las innovaciones tecnológicas pueden ser un recurso sumamente provechoso para facilitar un sinfín de tareas cotidianas, su irrupción en el ámbito educativo ha presentado un desafío considerable para los profesores. Hoy en día, una de las principales inquietudes para los educadores radica en determinar si los ensayos, las composiciones o las asignaciones sencillas, diseñadas para estimular la creatividad del estudiante, son realmente fruto de su propia mente y esfuerzo, o si han sido generadas, total o parcialmente, por herramientas de inteligencia artificial.

It is a great pleasure to be with you today and celebrate together the 28th anniversary of CETEX (Center for Textual Studies) at our prestigious Libertador Experimental Pedagogical University, at its headquarters in Maturín.
On this special occasion, we have gathered together the linguistics students, along with the distinguished professors, both masters and doctors, who are an active part of this study center. The main objective of our meeting was to develop a deeply relevant forum focused on language teaching in emerging contexts. This topic takes on particular importance when considering the challenges and potential setbacks that may arise from the growing use of artificial intelligence and other advanced technological tools in text production.
Artificial Intelligence: A Resource and a Challenge for Teaching
While it is indisputable that technological innovations can be an extremely useful resource for facilitating countless everyday tasks, their emergence in the field of education has presented a considerable challenge for teachers. Today, one of the main concerns for educators is determining whether essays, compositions, or simple assignments designed to stimulate student creativity are truly the product of their own minds and efforts, or whether they have been generated, in whole or in part, by artificial intelligence tools.
Desafíos como estos son el pan de cada día para los profesores, sobre todo cuando se enfrentan a grupos numerosos de estudiantes. Un colega, un profesor experimentado de Lengua y Literatura, compartió su estrategia para mitigar esta problemática. Nos comentó que él utiliza como herramienta principal el trabajo en el aula, de forma presencial. Con su acompañamiento cercano y el uso de diversos recursos didácticos que mantienen a los estudiantes alejados de sus dispositivos celulares, busca que ellos desarrollen su propia creatividad y habilidades de escritura de manera auténtica.
Relató una experiencia reveladora: al emplear una aplicación especializada en la detección de textos generados por IA, introdujo los ensayos que había asignado a sus estudiantes. Para su sorpresa y preocupación, descubrió que la inmensa mayoría de esos textos habían sido generados con inteligencia artificial. Esta situación lo llevó a convocar una reunión urgente con padres y alumnos, en la cual tanto unos como otros confirmaron haber utilizado herramientas de IA para elaborar los trabajos.
La Importancia Crucial de la Lectura y la Escritura en la Era Digital
Este escenario genera una profunda inquietud para el docente, al constatar cómo, de forma gradual, los niños y jóvenes parecen perder la capacidad de escribir, leer y crear sus propios textos, echando mano de su imaginación. En cambio, se vuelven cada vez más automatizados y dependientes de un dispositivo electrónico. Este hecho subraya la importancia crítica de reafirmar la lectura y la escritura en una cultura que se encuentra en constante y vertiginosa evolución.
Challenges like these are part of everyday life for teachers, especially when they are faced with large groups of students. A colleague, an experienced language and literature teacher, shared his strategy for mitigating this problem. He told us that he uses classroom work as his main tool, in person. With his close guidance and the use of various teaching resources that keep students away from their cell phones, he seeks to help them develop their own creativity and writing skills in an authentic way.
He recounted a revealing experience: using an application specialized in detecting AI-generated texts, he entered the essays he had assigned to his students. To his surprise and concern, he discovered that the vast majority of these texts had been generated by artificial intelligence. This situation led him to call an urgent meeting with parents and students, in which both confirmed that they had used AI tools to complete the assignments.
The Crucial Importance of Reading and Writing in the Digital Age
This scenario is deeply troubling for teachers, who are seeing how children and young people seem to be gradually losing the ability to write, read, and create their own texts using their imagination. Instead, they are becoming increasingly automated and dependent on electronic devices. This fact underscores the critical importance of reaffirming reading and writing in a culture that is constantly and rapidly evolving.
Frente a esta realidad, el CETEX asume un rol fundamental. Su misión es la de congregar a todos los amantes de las letras y la investigación, dejando en claro la importancia primordial de la autenticidad. Se enfatiza la necesidad de crear textos propios, de investigar a fondo, de ser verdaderos conocedores de la lengua y de impartir conocimiento con bases sólidas a través de la lectura, siempre respaldada por la ciencia y la investigación rigurosa.
En esta oportunidad, tuve el privilegio de participar activamente en este primer foro, desde que inicié mi camino profesional más allá de ser comunicadora, ahora como una futura magíster en lingüística. Fue inspirador observar cómo mis profesores, quienes estuvieron presentes, se emocionaban al discutir estos temas de investigación tan relevantes y cómo ha evolucionado el concepto del conocimiento, las letras y la investigación en el apasionante campo de la lingüística.
Esta experiencia fue, sin duda, enriquecedora. La compartí con compañeros sumamente inteligentes, auténticos conocedores de la lengua, apasionados por su trabajo y con una admirable disposición a enseñar y a seguir innovando en su ámbito de estudio. Es crucial que abracemos la tecnología y sus ventajas, pero sin permitir que esta apague nuestro valioso proceso creativo y que disminuya esa chispa intrínseca que nos impulsa a seguir investigando, innovando y, sobre todo, aprendiendo. Fue un día para celebrar el conocimiento y para seguir sumergiéndonos en el aprendizaje continuo, ¡y lo disfruté muchísimo!
Faced with this reality, CETEX plays a fundamental role. Its mission is to bring together all lovers of literature and research, emphasizing the paramount importance of authenticity. It stresses the need to create original texts, to conduct in-depth research, to be true connoisseurs of language, and to impart knowledge with a solid foundation through reading, always backed by science and rigorous research.
On this occasion, I had the privilege of actively participating in this first forum, since I began my professional career beyond being a communicator, now as a future master's degree holder in linguistics. It was inspiring to see how my professors, who were present, were excited to discuss these relevant research topics and how the concept of knowledge, literature, and research has evolved in the exciting field of linguistics.
This experience was undoubtedly enriching. I shared it with extremely intelligent colleagues, true connoisseurs of language, passionate about their work and with an admirable willingness to teach and continue innovating in their field of study. It is crucial that we embrace technology and its advantages, but without allowing it to stifle our valuable creative process and diminish that intrinsic spark that drives us to continue researching, innovating, and, above all, learning. It was a day to celebrate knowledge and to continue immersing ourselves in continuous learning, and I enjoyed it very much!
