Estos últimos meses se han juntado varios desperfectos en mi hogar y uno de ellos era la grifería del lavaplatos. Esta quedaba botando agua al momento de cerrarla y esto me incomodaba mucho. En mi edificio la presión del agua es fuerte, por lo que suele romper las griferías y tuberías con facilidad.
En casa hemos graduado la presión del agua con la llave de paso, pero la misma presión ha hecho que la llave se aísle y, aun cuando esté cerrada, siga saliendo agua, por lo que he optado por ponerle llaves de arresto a muchas conexiones y la del lavaplatos la tenía.
Al principio fue todo un estrés porque quien me ayudó a colocar la llave del lavaplatos fue mi hermano. El, con toda la voluntad sin saber, lo comenzó a hacer. Después mi esposo se puso a ayudarlo y entre los dos lograron instalarla. El resultado fue que la llave quedó torcida y, por supuesto, era culpa de la llave, del lavaplatos y hasta del apto, menos de ellos 😂.
Over the last few months, several things have broken down in my home, one of which was the dishwasher faucet. It would drip water when I turned it off, which bothered me a lot. The water pressure in my building is strong, so it tends to break faucets and pipes easily. At home, we have adjusted the water pressure with the shut-off valve, but the same pressure has caused the valve to become isolated, and even when it is closed, water continues to flow. So, I decided to install shut-off valves on many connections, including the dishwasher. At first, it was very stressful because my brother helped me install the dishwasher valve. He was willing to help, but he didn't know what he was doing. Then my husband started helping him, and between the two of them, they managed to install it. The result was that the valve was crooked, and of course, it was the fault of the valve, the dishwasher, and even the apartment, except for them 😂.
Yo estaba inconforme y más cuando me dicen que no se podía arreglar, les dije que no me ayudarán, porque de paso, al rodar el lavaplatos, el desagüe quedó botando agua, la manguera que había comprado para que cambiaran la vieja no servía y así, un día de estrés total.
Cada vez que veía esa grifería torcida, me daba rabia, y más cuando ellos me decían que se veía bien. Busqué mano de obra calificada y todos estaban ocupados. Así que un par de días después, frustrada, le dije a mi hermano que lo volviera a intentar. Compré otra manguera y él, con más calma, se puso a arreglarme el lavaplatos. El resultado fue que sí logró colocar bien la grifería, que sí quedará derecha.
También cambió la manguera de agua porque la que tenía ya estaba deteriorada. También me limpió el desagüe del lavaplatos y lo volvió a instalar y me arregló las conexiones. Pego el lavaplatos con silicona y después sello todas las orillas para evitar filtraciones de agua. Mi lavaplatos es para colocarle una grifería de dos llaves, por lo que trae tres huecos, pero la que yo quería usar era de una sola llave, por lo que quedaron dos huevos visibles. Estos los tapé con foami y silicona.
I was unhappy, especially when they told me it couldn't be fixed. I told them they weren't going to help me, because when I turned on the dishwasher, the drain started leaking water, the hose I had bought to replace the old one didn't work, and so it was a day of total stress.
Every time I saw that crooked faucet, it made me angry, especially when they told me it looked fine. I looked for skilled labor, but everyone was busy. So a couple of days later, frustrated, I told my brother to try again. I bought another hose, and he calmly set about fixing the dishwasher. The result was that he managed to install the faucet correctly, and it will stay straight.
He also changed the water hose because the one I had was already damaged. He also cleaned the sink drain, reinstalled it, and fixed the connections. I glued the dishwasher with silicone and then sealed all the edges to prevent water leaks. My dishwasher is designed for a two-handle faucet, so it has three holes, but the one I wanted to use was a single-handle faucet, so two holes were visible. I covered them with foam and silicone.
A esto le hice también con foami un escurridor, como uno que había visto por MercadoLibre y que iba a comprar. Bueno lo hice similar y lo fijé con el mismo silicón con el que me estaban pegando el lavaplatos y me encantó el resultado, quedó estético y sin filtraciones. Mi hijo al día siguiente con una pintura de caucho me pintó toda la parte de abajo del lavaplatos y quedó muy bien, esperando unos días y deseando que no tenga ninguna filtración más, también me instaló el extensor de la grifería y quedé muy contenta.
Quedé muy contenta con el resultado y lo próximo será retocar la pintura de las puertas y del lavaplatos que con el uso se fue levantando. Pero por el momento puedo decir que esto ha sido un proyecto más superado en la larga lista de pendientes. Tener un hogar es una bendición y parte de la responsabilidad es mantenerlo en pie, porque siempre habrán cosas que se irán dañando y lo mejor es resolverlo a la brevedad posible, luego les cuento cómo quedaron las puertas.

But for now, I can say that this is another project checked off my long to-do list. Having a home is a blessing, and part of the responsibility is keeping it in good shape, because there will always be things that get damaged, and it's best to fix them as soon as possible.
