Decorated headbands are excellent for themed parties, as they can be customized in many ways and with different materials. They can have as many elements as you are willing to wear, and if you make them with good support and lightweight materials, I assure you that you can use them throughout the event where you will be wearing them. For this Halloween month, I have some ideas in mind, and I wanted to draw inspiration from a movie or story that I really like, “Alice in Wonderland,” by placing a hat, some cards, and a key on the headband. If you've seen the movie, you know that these are elements that are part of the narrative of the whole story. I want to show you my process in this post... Welcome.

Las Diademas o cintillos decorados son excelentes para fiestas temáticas, ya que se pueden personalizar de muchas formas y con diferentes materiales. Pueden tener tantos elementos como estés dispuesta a llevar y si la elaboras con buen soporte y materiales livianos, te aseguro que las puedes utilizar durante todo el evento donde va a llevarla. Para este mes de Halloween tengo algunas propuestas en mente, y quise inspirarme en una película o cuento que me gusta mucho, "Alicia en el país de las maravillas" colocando sobre la Diadema un sombrero, algunas cartas y la llave, y si viste la película sabes que son elementos que forman parte de la narración de toda la historia. Te quiero mostrar mi proceso en esta publicación... Bienvenidos.

* Cover the headband with a strip of black suede fabric and hot silicone. I really like suede for covering headbands, as it doesn't slip when we wear it, making it more comfortable to use as it provides greater stability.

* Forra la Diadema con una tira de tela de gamuza de color negro y silicón caliente. Me gusta mucho la gamuza para forrar Diademas, ya que no se resbala cuando la usamos, y esto permite que sea más cómoda de usar ya que le da más estabilidad.

* On a piece of thick cardboard (I used a manila folder), I drew the shape of the hat crown. Then, I cut it out of black suede fabric and glued the two pieces together with hot glue.

* En una cartulina que sea algo gruesa, yo utilicé una carpeta de manila, diseñé la forma de la copa del sombrero. Luego, la recorté en la tela de gamuza de color negro y pegué ambas con silicón caliente.

Using cardboard or another type of cardstock, cut out two circles of the appropriate sizes for the base and top of the hat crown. Line them with suede fabric and then with the headband. To attach the circle to the headband, I also used a piece of suede to glue both elements together with hot silicone.

Con cartón o puede ser otra cartulina, se cortan dos círculos con los tamaños correspondientes para la base y arriba de la copa del sombrero. Los forro en la tela de gamuza y luego en la Diadema. Para pegar el círculo a la Diadema, utilicé también un trozo de gamuza para que pegue ambos elementos, con silicón caliente.

Now that the headband is lined and the base of the hat is made and attached to the headband, it's time for the best part: decorating it to our liking. I cut a rectangle out of the star-patterned tulle fabric, folded the fabric lengthwise, basted it with a needle and thread, and then pulled the thread to gather the entire design. This will be a decorative element that I will add later.

Ya con la Diadema forrada y la base del sombrero hecha y fijada al cintillo, viene la mejor parte que es decorar a nuestro gusto. Corté un rectángulo de la tela de tull con diseños de estrellas, doblé la tela a lo largo, hilvané con aguja e hilo, y luego halé el hilo para que arruchara todo el diseño. Esto será un elemento decorativo que colocaré más adelante.

I placed elements that I had available and that I thought went with the design. Like a silver ribbon, which I glued to the top of the hat. I wrapped a pipe cleaner around a marker to give it a spiral shape.

Coloqué elementos de los que disponía y que pensé que iban con el diseño. Como una cinta plateada, la cual pegué arriba en la copa del sombrero. Enrollé un chenil o limpiapipas en un marcador para dar la forma de espiral.

I attached the preformed stone, tulle, and chenille with hot silicone. Using orange satin fabric, I did the same thing I did with the tulle earlier, attaching it to the hat. This will add interest and a touch of color. It is important to seal the edges of this fabric, as it frays easily. In the Canva app, I chose two elements: a poker deck and an antique key, and printed them on white cardstock.

Coloqué con silicón caliente la piedra, el tull y el chenil preformados. Con una tela de razo de color naranja, hice lo mismo que hice con el tull anteriormente, para igualmente fijarlo en el sombrero. Esto le dará más interés y un toque de color. Es importante sellar los bordes de esta tela, porque se deshilacha fácilmente. En la App de Canva, elegí dos elementos: Juego de mazo de poker y llave antigua, los imprimí en cartulina blanca.

I glued on the satin fabric I had prepared earlier. I cut out the design of the antique key from gold glitter foam and decorated it with a piece of orange satin.

Pegué la tela de raso que había preparado anteriormente. Recorté el diseño de la llave antigua en foami escarchado de color dorado, y la decoré igualmente con un trozo de raso naranja.

I printed out the poker card images, cut them out, and placed them on black cardstock, leaving a border. Then I glued it onto the headband.

I loved making this headband and adding some elements from the movie “Alice in Wonderland.” The colors look beautiful in person; the photo really couldn't capture how beautiful and striking the overall design of this headband turned out. I'll make a couple more headbands for this Halloween, and then I'll show you the step-by-step process as well. If you've made it this far, thank you very much.
