I loved the casting of this series, or miniseries I would say, since it only has 6 episodes. These two women are in the same project: [Olivia Cooke](https://www.filmaffinity.com/es/name.php?name-id=704150494), whom I met as Alicent in the series [House of the Dragon](https://www.filmaffinity.com/es/film388341.html), of which I'm awaiting the next season. And [Robin Wright](https://www.filmaffinity.com/es/name.php?name-id=121389467), an actress with an elegant and very strong presence, perfect for playing a domineering mother-in-law. I know her from the series [House of Cards](https://www.filmaffinity.com/es/film706350.html), and I just realized I've never written a post about that series, which I liked for several reasons. What finally convinced me was watching the trailer, which clearly stated the central theme: the rivalry between the girlfriend and the mother-in-law for the love and attention of their mutual lover. A very simple theme, but one I think always works, in my case because I've experienced both roles or perspectives from my own experience. Of course, in this series, everything really gets out of hand, and on several occasions we agree with one or the other, and everything escalates drastically.

Amé el casting de esta serie o mini serie diría yo, ya que solo tiene 6 capítulos. Estas dos mujeres en un mismo proyecto, [Olivia Cooke](https://www.filmaffinity.com/es/name.php?name-id=704150494) a quien conocí como Alicent en la serie [La Casa del Dragón](https://www.filmaffinity.com/es/film388341.html) de la cual estoy esperando su próxima temporada. Y [Robin Wright](https://www.filmaffinity.com/es/name.php?name-id=121389467) una actriz con una presencia elegante y muy fuerte, perfecta para ser una suegra dominante, a ella la conozco de la serie [House of Cards](https://www.filmaffinity.com/es/film706350.html) y me acabo de dar cuenta que nunca he hecho mi post sobre esa serie que me gustó por varias razones. Lo que me terminó de convencer fue ver el tráiler, con el tema central bien planteado, la rivalidad entre la novia y la suegra por el amor y la atención de su amor en común. Un tema muy simple, pero creo que siempre funciona, en mi caso porque ya conocí en mi propia experiencia ambos papeles o perspectivas. Claro que en esta serie todo se sale de control realmente, y en varias ocasiones le damos la razón a una o a la otra, y todo irá escalando drásticamente.

The series introduces us to Laura Sanderson, a woman who seems to have it all: money, she owns a gallery, professional success, a stable marriage, and her beloved son, Daniel. Her pristine life is shattered when Daniel introduces his new partner, Cherry. This makes Laura very uncomfortable, as she is very protective of Daniel, wants all his attention, and doesn't want to share him with Cherry, whom she sensed from that first visit to her house, a total distrust of Cherry; she knew there was something wrong with her.

La serie nos presenta a Laura Sanderson, una mujer que parece tenerlo todo, dinero, es dueña de una galería, éxito profesional, un matrimonio estable y su adorado hijo, Daniel. Su vida de cristal se quiebra cuando Daniel presenta a su nueva pareja, Cherry. Y esto incomoda mucho a Laura, ya que es muy sobre protectora de Daniel, quiere toda su atención, y no quiere compartirlo con Cherry, a quien desde esa primera visita a su casa, ya sintió una total desconfianza en Cherry, sabía que había algo mal con ella.

Something I really liked about the direction of this series is that the episodes are narrated from Laura's perspective, and then we see those same events from Cherry's perspective. It was an interesting narrative device, since, as in real life, sometimes everyone believes they're right in a situation, and it's interesting to see the story told from each perspective. As a viewer, I also found myself flipping between sometimes agreeing with Laura and other times agreeing with Cherry. I think that's exactly what the series' directors intended. If you noticed from the fact sheet I posted at the beginning of this post, Robin Wright herself (Laura) is one of the two directors.

Algo que me gustó mucho en la Dirección de esta serie es que, los capítulos se narran desde la perspectiva de Laura, y luego esos mismos eventos los veremos desde la perspectiva de Cherry, y fue un recurso narrativo interesante, ya que como en la vida real, a veces cada persona cree tener la razón en una misma situación, y es interesante pues ver la historia contada desde cada perspectiva. Como espectador, igualmente me saltada entre darle la razón a Laura a veces, y otras veces a Cherry, y creo que fue justo lo que quisieron las Directoras de la serie, que si se dieron cuenta por la ficha que coloqué al principio de esta publicación, la mismísima Robin Wright (Laura) es una de las dos directoras.

Although "The Bride" has a simple plot, the treatment given to the main characters was what sustained the series, as was their performances. On the one hand, Laura represents the strength, perfection, and control of a mother over her son, whom she refuses to let go of because she is clinging to him, in part because she has already lost a daughter. On the other hand, Cherry represents the seductive charm, ambition, and cunning in the face of Laura's attacks; that's why we often empathize with her and even admire her courage. However, both characters clash, and their problems escalate substantially, through manipulation on each side, all without Daniel's knowledge.

Aunque "La Novia" tiene una trama simple, el tratamiento que le dieron a los personajes protagonistas fue lo que sostuvo la serie, al igual que sus actuaciones. Por una parte Laura es la fuerza, la perfección y el control de una madre sobre su hijo, a quien se niega a soltar ya que está aferrada a él, en parte porque ya perdió a una hija. Por otra parte Cherry es el encanto seductor, la ambición y la astucia frente a los ataques de Laura; por eso muchas veces empatizamos con ella y hasta admiramos su valentía. Pero, ambos personajes se enfrentan y sus problemas escalan sustancialmente, a través de la manipulación de cada parte, y todo esto sin que Daniel lo sepa.

What this series made me feel was very similar to what I felt with the film [Fatal Attraction](https://www.filmaffinity.com/es/film904134.html), in that both works share the same dramatic core that makes them so tense and fascinating: the psychological terror that arises from a perceived threat that disrupts a seemingly perfect life, an intruder, the destruction of a perfect life, obsession, and escalating violence. And also because Robin Wright has a force very similar to [Glenn Close](https://www.filmaffinity.com/es/name.php?name-id=958486488). I don't know what this series lacked to be classified as a psychological thriller. The strength of the main characters and the events that unfold in each episode made me feel that it was practically that.

Lo que me hizo sentir esta serie fue muy parecido a lo que sentí con la película [Atracción Fatal](https://www.filmaffinity.com/es/film904134.html), en cuanto a que ambas obras comparten el mismo núcleo dramático que las hace tan tensas y fascinantes, el terror psicológico que surge de una amenaza percibida que irrumpe en una vida aparentemente perfecta, una intrusa, la destrucción de una vida perfecta, la obsesión y la violencia escalada. Y también porque Robin Wright tiene una fuerza muy parecida a [Glenn Close](https://www.filmaffinity.com/es/name.php?name-id=958486488) No se que le faltó a esta serie para que fuese calificada como un Thriller psicológico, realmente la fuerza de los personajes protagónicos, y los eventos que se van abriendo en cada capítulo me hicieron sentir que prácticamente era así.

I highly recommend it. The ending was something I didn't think would happen, but it was good. It's a six-episode series or miniseries. I watched it in two days, and I loved it mainly because of the performances of its protagonists, especially Robin Wright.

La Recomiendo ampliamente, el final fue algo que no pensé que pasaría, pero estuvo bien. Se trata de una serie o mini serie de 6 capítulos, yo los vi en dos días, y me encantó principalmente por la actuación de sus protagonistas y sobre todo por la de Robín Wright.
