There's no doubt that life is beautiful, but not everything is rosy. We always encounter difficult situations along the way, and often, overcoming them depends on how each of us faces them. Personally, I've been through many difficult situations—I'm sure each of you has too, because it's part of life. But one of the hardest for me to overcome was during the economic crisis in my country, around 2017. The economy became so difficult, and on top of that, there was a shortage of basic necessities. This reached such a point in my life that I got sick. I lost approximately 10 kg. I looked like a sick person. People who saw me asked me what was wrong. What was happening was internal; it was something within me. The situation was so difficult that I didn't even have enough money to buy food, since even if I could find it, it was extremely expensive. There were days when there was literally nothing for breakfast, nothing for lunch, and if we managed to get something for dinner, it was already late afternoon, almost nightfall. Talking about eating meat, chicken, or fish was impossible! Things became more critical, and if, for example, a pair of sandals broke or we ran out of clothes, even the thought of buying those items was a secondary issue. The little we managed to find was spent on food alone. The stress was actually killing me; overthinking was making me sick. Because if there was anything for breakfast, I was eating breakfast, and I was already thinking there was nothing for lunch or dinner. Until I reached a point in my life where I said to myself: well, if there's something, we'll eat it, and if there isn't, we won't eat it. I won't worry anymore! I made that decision and that personal determination and said, "one day at a time." From that day on, I set my mind to it and learned to live like that, one day at a time! If I had breakfast, I would be grateful for it and eat it, and stop thinking about the next meal. I think that was the key phrase I used to overcome this situation: "one day at a time." I began to mentally reconcile myself to one day at a time; I didn't have to worry so much about tomorrow. That's in regards to the very difficult situation my family and I are going through at home. One of the things I always say when we're going through problems or difficult times is, as the saying goes: "There's no evil that lasts a thousand years, nor any body that can withstand it." I truly believe that everything passes; and that, after the storm comes the calm. This is my post for week 276 of weekend experiences proposed by @galenkp
