In this week #281, we explore the theme: “Vacation.” I have the pleasure of sharing my trumpet performance of “(There's No Place Like) Home for the Holidays,” a pop song composed by Robert Allen and Al Stillman in 1954. The best-known version is by Perry Como, and it's a song frequently heard at Christmas. The lyrics are very enjoyable and speak of the joyful feeling of returning home to celebrate with loved ones. Many people are away from home due to school or work, and they have to travel long distances to return home. These lyrics apply to a variety of moments. I've had the opportunity to hear versions by The Carpenters, Garth Brooks, Barry Manilow, and Pentatonix. The melody is smooth and expressive, with a moderate tempo and a 4/4 time signature. In my case, I play it in D major. It's most likely in the key of C major.

Tengo el placer de compartir mi interpretación con mi trompeta de «(There's No Place Like) Home for the Holidays», una canción pop compuesta por Robert Allen y Al Stillman en 1954. La versión más conocida es la de Perry Como, y es un tema que se escucha frecuentemente en Navidad. La letra es muy amena y habla del sentimiento de alegría de regresar a casa para celebrar con los seres queridos. Muchas personas están lejos de casa por motivo de estudios, trabajo y les toca recorrer largas distancias para volver a su hogar. Esta letra aplica para diversidad de momentos. He tenido la oportunidad de escuchar versiones de The Carpenters, Garth Brooks, Barry Manilow, y Pentatonix. La melodía es suave y expresiva, con un tempo moderado y una cifra indicadora de compás de 4/4. En mi caso la interpreto en D Mayor. Algo que apreciamos los venezolanos son los ratos libres, los fines de semana, los feriados y las vacaciones. Algunos podrán criticarnos por ser una sociedad con mucho tiempo de esparcimiento, pero nadie nos quita lo bailado, incluso nuestra alegría. Somos un pueblo relajado, que se ríe de sus tragedias, y que disfruta de estas válvulas de escape. Imagínense, si no existieran esos momentos libres, seguramente explotaríamos por el estrés, y el agotamiento. En mi caso trabajo desde casa y son deseables las vacaciones en entornos exteriores como playas, paisajes, conciertos y exhibiciones artísticas. Para otros, que viven recorriendo el mundo por su trabajo, el anhelo del hogar y de tomarse un tiempo para compartir con la familia, recargar baterías y dormir. Cuando estaba niño amaba las vacaciones, pero cuando se terminaban no sentía pesadez por ello. Quería volver a clases para volver a ver a mis compañeros y mis maestros. Que esta interpretación llene su corazón de grandes cosas. Bendiciones.
