When I Fall in Love - Natalie Cole (Cover) by @yisusth

A warm hug to this beautiful #Music community. I'm pleased to share my trumpet interpretation of "When I Fall in Love," a traditional pop song composed by Victor Young and Edward Heyman in 1952. My favorite version is Natalie Cole's with her father, Nat King Cole. What's interesting about this version is that it was edited after her father's passing, using editing technology. The lyrics speak of true and eternal love, without conditions or reservations. The song is in the key of D-flat major, but I play it in D major. The melody is elegant, with smooth intervals and phrases. Its jazzy harmony gives it a unique and sophisticated timbre. The tempo is slow, with a 4/4 time signature, and it feels like thoughtful phrasing. I love the way the piano sounds with its delicate contrasts, and playing it with the trumpet has been a wonderful experience.

Un cálido abrazo para esta bella comunidad de #Music. Tengo el agrado de compartir mi interpretación con la trompeta de «When I Fall in Love», una canción pop tradicional compuesta por Victor Young y Edward Heyman en 1952. Mi versión favorita es la de Natalie Cole con su padre Nat King Cole. Lo interesante de esta versión es que fue editada, después del fallecimiento de su padre, con el uso de tecnologías de edición. La letra habla del amor verdadero y eterno, sin condiciones ni reservas. La canción se encuentra en la tonalidad de D bemol mayor, en mi caso la interpreto en D mayor. La melodía es elegante, con intervalos y frases suaves. Su armonía jazzística le da un timbre único y sofisticado. El tempo es lento, con una cifra indicadora de compas de 4/4, y se siente como un fraseo reflexivo. Me encanta como suena el piano con contrastes delicados, y tocarlo con la trompeta ha sido una experiencia maravillosa.

If there's one thing I've learned from musical rests, it's that the lead voice doesn't always have to sing. This is a time of silence that requires concentration, analysis, and discipline from those who aren't playing. I remember once we had 16 rests in a piece of music, and to enter, we had to mentally count each measure. Since it was a new song for us, we had to concentrate. These rests were part of the song's structure, and in this space, the string and woodwind instruments were the protagonists. Because I lost count, I had to remain silent until the end. One must have active patience and wait for the right moment to enter precisely. That's how life is; there are times when we must wait for the opportune moment to shine. Si hay algo de la música que he aprendido de los compases en espera, es que no siempre la voz principal debe cantar. Este es un tiempo de silencio que requiere concentración, análisis, y disciplina de los que no tocan. Recuerdo que en una oportunidad teníamos una cantidad de 16 compases de espera en una pieza musical, para entrar debíamos contar mentalmente cada compás. Como era una canción nueva para nosotros, teníamos que concentrarnos. Estos compases eran parte de la estructura de la canción, y en este espacio los instrumentos de cuerda y de viento madera eran los protagonistas. Como perdí la cuenta, me toco quedarme en silencio hasta el final. Uno debe tener una paciencia activa y esperar su tiempo para entrar con exactitud. Así es la vida, hay momentos en que debemos esperar el tiempo oportuno para brillar. Espero que disfruten de mi interpretación esta semana. Que Dios les bendiga incluso en los silencios de la vida.
