Hello, I hope you are all in God's grace and mercy. As for me I am doing well in His grace and His mercy has sustained me.

For today's post, let me share with you the wonderful event I and my husband attended, Kerl's graduation ceremony. But we really was nit able to attend honestly, we weren't allowed to enter the gymnasium and ended up waiting for them outside.

Before the rest of the story starts this is Kerl, our close friend, a brother and to us, he felt like our son.

Picture taken using screen shot of kerl's profile on social media

Last year, I posted about letting him borrow our laptop, it was not even a laptop but a netbook; an old and laggy one but he used it just to do his Microsoft word needs for his term papers in school.

Too bad, one day he said he was too sleepy for working on a part time job at a fast food chain, the laptop fell and the screen broke, anyway he said his classmate would let him borrow theirs since he is their leader and he does most of the works for their team.

Fast forward, Kerl graduated; the usual graduation time was supposed to be on April but theirs on August this year although they were done with their requirements on April, they waited for months for this to happen and he happily invited us to come and watch him on the stage.

The graduation ceremony starts at 3 pm so I went out early from my work and waited for passenger vehicles to arrive so I could board towards home, sadly I had to wait for a while since it was not the peak time for passengers but finally rode a tricab. It was supposed to be private but they let me ride wih them and I paid them after I went down.

Empty road

Me taking pictures randomly. I was very excited and I don't want to waste time yet all I had to do is to be patient.

The husband and I rode towards the municipal gym, both with happy faces and excited hearts but we got discouraged when we saw many people outside, being blocked by the officials because we are not allowed to come in. Sadly, the students were not all informed about the rules of bringing only two relatives and the ones whose relatives were very excited, too went out because she had to tend to his youngest daughter and granddaughter that were with her; they were not allowed to enter as well so she swapped places with kerl's girlfriend. She said se£he doesn't like crowd anyway and when we found them, we talked about lots of things and my husband joked a lot and they were cheered up .

Soon the rain came, people gathered to the pavilion to seek shelter and this flower bouquet seller was also there.

The materials used on the flowers were fuzzy wires; I saw this a lot in social media but I was not able to see it in person until the day I took this picture; I was always curious oàn how they attached the wires and how they keep them neat; I still don't get how so I took close up pictures instead.

There were no chair on the pavilion so we sat on our shoes as we gathered round and everyone seems to do it as well. A few hours later, we got hungry and bought cheese corn; it was my first time eating this but it tastes great, a small cup costs 20 pesos and is enough to soothe a hungry stomach.

Hours psssed by and soon darkness came, still the ceremony was not yet over and Kerl's family decided they should go first to prepare dinner for us all. The husband and I waited until we could come in and poae a picture with him. The ceremony endes past 6 pm and so we did take pictures and went home. It was raining and we don't have umbrella anymore because we let kerl's mother borrow earlier.

Soon we went to his boarding house an had dinner with rice and roasted chicken, it was a simple celebration, and it was more than enough because we were very grateful that he chose to celebrate it with us. Later on the way home the husband and I talked and realized that the feeling would be 100x whenour own kids would finish school and graduate.

For now, Kerl is working, not only making ends neet but also saving for his board exam and hopefully, he will get one of the top scores. He was refused to get latin honors because he stopped for a few tears during the pandemic hit.

All in all, I am very happy for Kerl for listening to us when we asked him to go back to school and finish what he had started even though he knew it would not be easy. I am thankful to my husband as well that he has arms wide open for rhis young man and he never say no whenever he asks for a little help and I would thank God for providing what we shared to him.. I hope that Kerl would pass with top score and soon get a work on the government.

I am very happy and proud of Kerl!
