Secretary's Day / Día del Secretari@

On September 30, here in Venezuela and elsewhere in the world, we celebrate Secretary's Day, the idea behind this date being to highlight the hard work of the men and women who sit behind a desk every day, shaping the bureaucratic apparatus that drives both the public and private spheres. The truth is that sometimes this work is invisible to the world, but its importance is immeasurable, since secretaries are usually the true face of the institution before the public.

El 30 de septiembre acá en Venezuela y en otros lugares del mundo se celebra el día de la secretaria o el secretario, la idea de esta fecha Resaltar el arduo trabajo de hombres y mujeres que a diario se sientan detrás de un escritorio dándole forma al aparato burocrático que mueve tanto el espacio público como el privado. La verdad es que a veces se trata de una labor invisibilizada por el mundo, pero cuya importancia es de alcance incalculable, ya que normalmente tanto las secretarias, como los secretarios, son la verdadera cara de la institución ante el público.

I have been working as an administrative secretary for the Ministry of Education for several years. My workplace is always an educational institution, and I am currently at a primary school, where I am the only one who performs this job. I confess that there are days when I find the work overwhelming, the working hours are not enough to process all the information, and as a result, I return home very tired. But despite all this, I always have in mind the satisfaction that my work contributes in a small way to the education of these children, who are the young people and adults of the future, on whom will fall the weight of the development of an entire nation.

Desde hace varios años trabajo como secretario administrativo para el Ministerio de Educación, mi puesto de trabajo siempre es una institución de enseñanza y en la actualidad me encuentro en una escuela que imparte educación primaria, acá soy el único que desempeña está labor y les confieso que hay días en los que el trabajo me resulta agobiante, las jornadas laborales se hacen insuficientes para procesar toda la información y como consecuencia regreso muy cansado a casa. Pero a pesar de todo esto, siempre tengo en mi mente la satisfacción de que mi trabajo constituye un granito de arena en la formación de esos niños que son futuros jóvenes y adultos, sobre los cuales recaerá el peso del desarrollo de toda una nación.

Today I arrived at work at the usual time, but to my surprise, my fellow teachers and staff had prepared a big welcome for me, congratulating me on my day and giving me some gifts, including Venezuelan sweets, a set of sportswear, and a series of hugs and smiles that filled me with gratitude and joy. Feeling the affection of all those who share my daily work routine shows me that I am on the right track, and that is why today's celebration helped me recharge my batteries and continue on a path where love, tolerance, patience, and affection are the values that define my work rhythm, in order to achieve ever better results.

El día de hoy me presenté a mi puesto de trabajo en el horario habitual, pero para mi sorpresa mis compañeros profesores y personal de servicio me tenían preparada una gran bienvenida, en la cual me felicitaron por mi día y me regalaron algunos detalles, entre los cuales puedo destacar golosinas venezolanas, un conjunto de ropa deportiva y una serie de abrazos y sonrisas que me llenaron de gratitud y alegría. El percibir el cariño de todos aquellos que comparten mis jornadas diarias de trabajo me indica que hoy por el buen camino y es por ello que la agasajo del día de hoy me sirvió para reponer energías y seguir adelante una forma de ser en donde el amor, la tolerancia, la paciencia y el cariño sean los valores que definen mi ritmo de trabajo, para así lograr cada vez mejores resultados.
