Coffee & Street Art
Right next to our hostel was the Armenian Street, where lots of such was found. There I had my first ever Luwak Coffee (cat coffee)!
Gleich neben unserem Hostel war die Armenian Street, die für genau das bekannt ist. Dort hatte ich den ersten Luwak Kaffee (Katzenkaffee) meines Lebens!

The process of making it was all fancy but in the end it didn’t taste too special and certainly wasn’t worth 8 €.
Note to self: next time drink a regular coffee for 2 € and give 2 € to a homeless person - still half the price. Also there’s the questionable ethics of Luwak Coffeeproduction as I later learn.
Die Zubereitung war ziemlich fancy, doch am Ende schmeckte er nicht allzu speziell und war bestimmt keine 8 € wert. Notiz an mich selbst: nächstes Mal normaler Kaffee für 2 € und 2 € einem Obdachlosen geben - immer noch der halbe Preis. Von der unethischen Produktion des Luwak Kaffee ganz abgesehen, von der ich dann erfuhr.

Food and Nature
On another day we went to one Chinese restaurant that was recommended by a Chinese as the best Chinese food he ever ate. Well, we had to try that!
An einem anderen Tag gingen wir zu einem chinesischen Restaurant, das uns ein Chinese empfohlen hat. Es wäre das beste chinesische Essen. Na, das mussten wir probieren!
Full of energy we made our way to a waterfall nearby where not too many white people show up, I guess. A few friendly locals took photos with me there.
Voller Energie machten wir uns auf den Weg zu einem Wasserfall in der Nähe, wo offenbar nicht allzu viele Weiße vorbekommen. Einige freundliche Einheimische schossen dort dann Fotos mit mir.
Onwards we drove to check ou the national park and hiked to a beach there. On the way we saw quite some monkey and huuuge centipedes.
Weiter ging es zum Nationalpark, wo wir an einen Strand wanderten. Am Weg waren einige Affen und rießige Tausenfüßler sahen.
The Inside Travels
George Town was really great, but after I first had that expensive coffee and then saw an old homeless man in front of a corner store it really made me question how I spend my money.
George Town war wirklich spitze, aber nachdem ich zuerst den teuren Kaffee hatte und dann einen alten obdachlosen Herren vor einem Geschäft sah, musste ich hinterfragen, wofür ich mein Geld ausgebe
Later on Langkawi I learn from a very kind Malaysian that George Town made big economical progress over the last years. As a result of that there’s also gentrification happening. I feel like it’s the same issues all over the world. As much as people are just the same everywhere - I love meeting the good ones with big hearts. :)
Wie ich später auf Langkawi von einem sehr netten Malaysier erfahre, hat George Town jüngst große wirtschaftliche Fortschritte gemacht. Als Resultat dessen kam es auch zur Gentrifizierung. Mir scheint, es gibt weltweit die gleichen Belange. So wie auch die Menschen überall gleich sind - ich liebe es, die guten mit großen Herzen kennenzulernen. :)
