Hola needleworkers 😊 estoy de vuelta por aquí para mostrarles un poco en algo que pude trabajar, el fin de año está acabando conmigo realmente jajaja necesito conseguir un nuevo trabajo donde me quede más tiempo libre ¿Sera eso posible para 2026?, el fin de año siempre es agotador, física y mentalmente y en Argentina peor por que se vienen los días de calor y Buenos Aires es muy húmeda, así que el calor se siente como pesado, adelantándome a estos fatídicos hechos que tendremos que vivir ya estuve revisando mi ropa de verano y mi vestido favorito necesita salvación.

The end of the year is always exhausting, physically and mentally and in Argentina it's worse because hot days are coming and Buenos Aires is very humid, so the heat feels heavy, anticipating these fateful events that we will have to live through, I have already been checking my summer clothes and my favorite dress needs saving.
Hice este vestido hace mucho tiempo atrás, pero cometí el error de no lavar la tela antes de coser, y es una fibrana de algodón, es una tela liviana y vaporosa, pero traicionera jajaja ya que suele encoger bastante, pero esta encogió más de 10 cm, ya el verano pasado usaba este vestido con un short abajo, pero igual parecía que se me iba a ver todo y no quería dar esa sensación, era hora de arreglarlo y buscar la forma de que me tapara un poco más.
I made this dress a long time ago, but I made the mistake of not washing the fabric before sewing, and it is a cotton fiber, it is a light and airy fabric, but treacherous hahaha since it tends to shrink a lot, but this one shrank more than 10 cm, last summer I wore this dress with shorts underneath, but it still seemed like everything was going to be seen and I didn't want to give that feeling, it was time to fix it and find a way to cover me a little more.
Del sobrante de esta tela hice un short, que no me gusta para nada como calza en mí, así que estaba en el ropero ocupando lugar hace mucho, así que lo planché, y va a servir para poder alargar un poco mi vestido y así estar más fresca y cómoda este verano.
From the leftover fabric I made a pair of shorts, which I don't like at all how they fit on me, so they were in the closet taking up space for a long time, so I ironed them, and they will help me lengthen my dress a little so I can be cooler and more comfortable this summer.
Para solucionar esto voy a sacrificar ese short y añadirle al vestido una tira inferior, pensé que sería una buena idea ponerle puntilla que combine, pero la verdad no tengo ganas de ir al centro a comprar jajaja, vengo muy atareada y siempre corriendo atrás de la facultad así que tenía que solucionar con lo que había a mano.
To solve this I'm going to sacrifice those shorts and add a lower strap to the dress. I thought it would be a good idea to add matching lace, but I really don't feel like going downtown to buy things, haha. I'm very busy and always running after school, so I had to make do with what I had on hand.
Corte el short, le quite el elástico y lo hilvane a la parte inferior del vestido, como el largo del vestido era más largo que el del short decidí ir haciendo unos pliegues pequeños, esto daría la apariencia de fruncido en el vestido, pero no se notaría tanto, si hará un poco una modificación de la silueta, pero eso no importa tanto.
I cut the shorts, removed the elastic and basted them to the bottom of the dress. Since the dress was longer than the shorts, I decided to make some small pleats. This would give the dress the appearance of gathering, but it wouldn't be as noticeable. It would slightly alter the silhouette, but that doesn't matter that much.
Fije la costura luego del hilván con máquina recta, como la cintura del short y el bajo del vestido ya tenían ruedo ni hizo falta pasar overlock.
I secured the seam after basting with a straight machine, since the waist of the shorts and the hem of the dress already had a hem, so there was no need to overlock.
Para cerrar atrás pase una costura recta y una costura en overlock ya que esta tela deshilacha un montón.
To close the back, use a straight seam and an overlock seam since this fabric frays a lot.
Finalicé la costura con un rulote simple en el bajo, ya que nadie más que yo notará ese detalle, aunque aún no sé si será un vestido que vaya a usar cuando este fuera de casa, podría sumarle una puntilla fina de decoración, también corte unos hilos sueltos del escote.
I finished the seam with a simple ruffle at the bottom, since no one but me will notice that detail. Although I still don't know if it will be a dress I'll wear when I'm out and about, I could add a fine decorative lace trim. I also cut some loose threads from the neckline.
Tengo que revisar mis telas y ver que me falta para el verano, necesito algunos shorts y tops, pero tienen que ser aptos para ir al trabajo, así que tendré que ponerme a coser cosas nuevas y aptas, pero eso será para otra ocasión.
I need to check my fabrics and see what I'm missing for the summer. I need some shorts and tops, but they have to be work-friendly, so I'll have to start sewing new, work-friendly things, but that will be for another occasion.
