On July 24 of last year, under the organization of this radio station and with the support of several companies and sponsors, International Children's Day was celebrated at Critchlow Labor College.

Thanks to Miguel Linero, who was kind enough to invite me to this great event, I was able to enjoy a variety of activities, games, music and fun in the afternoon of that unforgettable day.

The children, obviously, were the protagonists. The conduction was carried out by the Latinísima Guyana work team, who between dances and laughter guided games, raffles, competitions and surprises to brighten hearts and bring smiles to the little ones at home.

The place had a spacious room in which they could run around as they pleased, and in the front yard, full of colors and the sounds of bells, they had improvised an amusement park with a trampoline, inflatable castle, people in life-size doll costumes, and a slide.

No type of alcoholic beverage was sold, but the entire gastronomy was dedicated and completely committed to adequate nutrition for children of any age.

Various nationalities met and embraced in that place: Venezuelans, Cubans and of course with the accompaniment and support at all times from the Guyanese faculty and directors of the Center and the community.

That afternoon stuck in the middle of my chest, because I felt hugged, wrapped up, accepted.

Emigrating, tearing my roots from my land and transplanting has been one of the hardest things I have had to do in life. One even misses the voice of the shrill neighbor next door to the house, when she called her son to go take a bath. That is why experiences at events like this are so appreciated. Time has passed and that July afternoon is still as alive in me as the day it all happened and Critchlow Labor College kept a little piece of my love.

Me es tremendamente placentero poder contarles sobre mis experiencias en Guyana, donde a pesar de no hablar el idioma nativo, he podido disfrutar de momentos hermosos, como este que hoy les comparto.

En Georgetown hay una radio conocida como Latinísima Guyana, dirigida por el querido venezolano Miguel Linero y que representa, promueve y ayuda a la comunidad de habla hispana instalada en este maravilloso país.

El 24 de julio del pasado año, bajo la organización de esta radio y con el apoyo de varias empresas y patrocinadores, se celebró el Día Internacional del Niño, en el Critchlow Labour College.

Gracias a Miguel Linero, quien tuvo la amabilidad de invitarme a este grandioso evento, pude disfrutar de una variedad de actividades, juegos, música y diversión en horas de la tarde de ese inolvidable día.

Los niños, obviamente, fueron los protagonistas. La conducción estuvo a cargo del equipo de trabajo de Latinísima Guyana, quienes entre bailes y risas guiaron juegos, rifas, competencias y sorpresas para alegrar los corazones y dibujarle sonrisas a los más pequeños de casa.

El lugar tenía un salón espacioso en el cual podían correr a su antojo y en el patio delantero, lleno de colores y de sonidos de campanitas, habían improvisado un parque de diversiones con una cama elástica, castillo inflable, personas dentro disfraces de muñecos en tamaño real y resbaladera.

No se vendió ningún tipo de bebida alcohólica, sino que toda la gastronomía estuvo dedicada y comprometida por completo con una alimentación adecuada para niños de cualquier edad.

Varias nacionalidades se encontraron y abrazaron en aquel lugar: venezolanos, cubanos y por supuesto con el acompañamiento y apoyo en todo momento del claustro de profesores y directivos guyanenses del Centro y de la comunidad.

Esa tarde se me quedó clavada en medio del pecho, pues me sentí abrazada, arropada, aceptada.

Emigrar, arrancar mis raíces de mi tierra y trasplantarme ha sido una de las cosas más duras que he tenido que hacer en la vida. Uno llega a extrañar hasta la voz de la vecina chillona de al lado de la casa, cuando llamaba al hijo para que fuera a bañarse. Por eso se agradece tanto las experiencias en eventos como este.

El tiempo a pasado y esa tarde de julio sigue tan viva en mí como el día que todo ocurrió y el Critchlow Labour College se quedó con un pedacito de mi amor.
