When reading them, you can feel that you are singing, as if they were sheet music, due to the brilliant musicality that the author achieves. In them he evokes myths, history, beliefs and idiosyncrasies of various regions of the world. He makes us an accomplice of his pen and makes us navigate with his verses to remote places that, in one way or another, directly influenced Cuban culture and tradition itself.

One of the things I most admire and appreciate about this book is the way of taking care of children's dreams and fantasy, without the fashionable discourse of wanting to talk to children as if they were adults. I may be a somewhat old-fashioned writer, according to the opinion of many, but I am an eternal defender of the need to respect the stages of life and not violate the innocence of children in any way, neither subtle nor overt. This does not mean that children's literature should be dull, without strength in its structure, but that we must recognize the intelligence of the little ones at home, to whom we should not speak longing for words, but at the same time being responsible and afraid of bringing to their incipient years, themes and concepts that they do not yet need to explore.

And this is precisely one of the many things I loved about Songs of Round Trip, its magical and paternal way of bringing to children a world of fantasy and dreams, respecting their acuity and understanding, without ceasing to take care of the innocence typical of their ages.

And it does not surprise me that this is the case, since its author, Nelson Simón, has a special gift for children. He has dedicated several of his books to them, such as:

Ven, toma mi mano y permíteme llevarte por Canciones de ida y vuelta, del escritor Nelson Simón. No te dejes confundir por la portada, aunque es un libro pensado para los niños, en su interior encontramos caricias para todas las edades y todos los gustos.

Canciones de ida y vuelta es un libro que carga en su interior poemas muy diversos en sus rimas y estructuras estróficas. Al leerlos, puedes sentir que estás cantando, como si de partituras se tratara, por la genial musicalidad que logra el autor. En ellos evoca mitos, historia, creencias e idiosincrasia de varias regiones del mundo. Nos convierte en cómplice de su pluma y nos hace navegar con sus versos hasta lugares remotos que, de una forma u otra, influyeron directamente en la propia cultura y tradición cubana.

Una de las cosas que más admiro y agradezco de este libro, es la manera de cuidar los sueños y la fantasía de los niños, sin el discurso, tan de moda, de querer hablarle a los niños como si fueran adultos. Puede que yo sea una escritora un poco chapada a la antigua, según la opinión de muchos, pero soy eterna defensora de la necesidad de respetar las etapas de vida y no violentar de ninguna forma, ni sutil ni abierta, la inocencia de los niños. Esto no significa que la literatura infantil debe ser sosa, sin fuerza en su estructura, sino que debemos reconocer la inteligencia de los más pequeños de casa, a los cuales no hay que hablarle añoñando las palabras, pero al mismo tiempo siendo responsables y temerosos de llevar a sus incipientes años, temas y conceptos que aún no necesitan explorar.

Y esto es precisamente una de las tantas cosas que amé de Canciones de ida y vuelta, su forma mágica y paternal de llevar hasta los niños un mundo de fantasía y sueños, respetando su agudeza y comprensión, sin dejar de cuidarles la inocencia propia de sus edades.

Y no me asombra que sea así, pues su autor, Nelson Simón, tiene un don especial para los niños. A ellos ha dedicado varios de sus libros, tales como:

Nelson Clemente Simón González nació en Consolación del Sur, Pinar del Río, el 23 de noviembre de 1965.
