Hello friends
I haven't been here for a few days. So I decided to stop by today and introduce you to a wonderful book by an author you're already familiar with. A few weeks ago, I presented her first book, Travirrumbas.
Make no mistake, I'm talking about Martha Rosa Fernández Salgado, my friend and doctor, Specialist in MGI and Endocrinology.
She loves children, which is why she writes for them, although she also writes for adults, but she prefers to write for children.
The three books she has published with Sanlope are children's literature. She currently lives in Valencia, Spain, but during her time in Cuba she remained active as a doctor and as a writer, as well as a cultural promoter.
The Pencil Eater in the Corner is the book I'm presenting to you today. It is composed of 10 beautiful stories with different themes.
The Governor of Time is the opening story of the book. It addresses an interesting theme that many children experience today: their parents' divorce.
And when mothers feel depressed by this abandonment, it's not their children's fault, yet they're the ones who suffer the most.
Then the father has another woman, the mother cries, and time slips away. She wastes a lot of time thinking about what went wrong, and when she realizes it, it's too late.
This book is a true literary gem in my city. Its creation and publication were supported by an excellent team, led by its editor, writer @argelfernadez, whose books we've previously featured here.
The illustrations, cover design, proofreading, and printing were handled by Toni Medina, Yoisel Ricardo, Lucy Maestre, and Andrés Sao. A truly brilliant team.
The story Grandma Is in Heaven addresses the topic of death. This is a very sensitive subject for children and shouldn't be treated harshly. Well, children identify a lot with their grandparents.
In this story, a cousin, a little older than the other children, who doesn't understand what's happening with the family news, approaches them and coldly announces that Grandma has passed away and that they shouldn't keep saying she's gone to live in heaven, that's just children's stuff.
My Dog Has Bugs is my favorite story in this book. Imagine a little girl finds a puppy that someone abandoned in the trash. She rescues it, and then its mother tells her she can't have it.
The girl feels her grandfather's support and they manage to leave the dog at home, but her mother constantly threatens to get rid of the animal under any excuse.
As a child, it was because he hadn't yet learned to go to the bathroom in the yard. Then, because he wouldn't eat rice on his own, when he started to grow, he picked up bugs and said he was going to throw him out on the street.
I love how her grandfather said: It seems your mother doesn't remember that we never threw her out when she was little and had lice.
From that day on, her mother never spoke of throwing the dog out on the street again.
These and other stories are what we find in this wonderful book.

Hacía algunos días no estaba por acá. Así que decidí pasar hoy y presentarle un libro precioso de una autora que ya conocen, pues hace unas semanas presenté su primer libro Travirrumbas.
No se equivocan, estoy hablando de Martha Rosa Fernández Salgado, la doctora, amiga mía, Especialista en MGI y Endocrinología.
A ella le encantan los niños, por eso escribe para ellos, aunque también escribe para adultos, pero prefiere escribir para los niños.
Los 3 libros que tiene publicado por la editorialSanlope son de literatura infantil. Actualmente radica en Valencia, España, pero el tiempo que estuvo en Cuba se mantuvo activa como médico y como escritora además como promotora cultural.
El comelápiz del rincón es el libro que les presento hoy. El mismo está compuesto por 10 cuentos preciosos y con diferentes temas.
El gobernador del tiempo es el cuento que abre el libro, tiene un tema interesante que muchos niños viven en la actualidad, el divorcio de sus padres.
Y cuando las madres se sienten deprimidas por esta dejación cuando los hijos no tienen culpa y sin embargo son los mayores perjudicados.
Entonces el padre ya tiene otra mujer, la mamá llora y se le va el tiempo, pierde mucho tiempo pensando en qué falló y cuando se da cuenta le ha cogido tarde.
Este libro es una verdadera joya de la literatura en mi ciudad. En su realización y salida a la luz tuvo un equipo excelente, encabezado por su editor, el escritor @argelfernadez, de quien ya hemos traído acá sus libros.
Las ilustraciones, diseño de cubierta, corrección e impresión estuvieron a cargo de Toni Medina,Yoisel Ricardo, Lucy Maestre y Andrés Sao. Todo un equipo hacedor de joyas.
En el cuento La abuela está en el cielo, aborda el tema de la muerte. Tema muy sensible en los infantes y que no debe ser tratado de manera dura. Pues los niños se identifican mucho con sus abuelos.
En esta historia, cuenta que un primo, un poco mayor que los demás niños, que no entienden lo que está pasando con las novedades familiares, se les acerca y de una manera fría les anuncia que la abuela falleció y que no sigan diciendo que se fue a vivir al cielo, que eso es cosas de niños.
Mi perro tiene bichos es el cuento que más me gusta de este libro. Imaginen que una niña se encuentra un perrito que alguien abandonó en la basura. Ella lo rescata y luego la mamá le dice que no lo puede tener.
La niña siente el apoyo del abuelo y logran dejar el perro en casa, pero todo el tiempo la mamá está amenazando con deshacerse del animal con cualquier excusa.
De pequeño porque aún no había aprendido a hacer sus necesidades en el patio. Luego porque no comía arroz solo, cuando comenzó a crecer cogió bichos y dijo que lo iba a tirar a la calle.
Me encanta como el abuelo dijo: parece que tu mamá no se acuerda que nunca la echamos a la calle a ella cuando era pequeña y tenía piojos.
Desde ese día, la mamá nunca más habló de echar al perro a la calle.
Estos y otros cuentos son los que nos encontramos en este libro maravilloso.
