My Korean Choice: Cooking with Flavor and Heart

@yusmelys ยท 2025-10-16 19:08 ยท Korean Hive Village

Best regards to the Hive community and the Korean Hive Community. Cordially, with much enthusiasm and affection, I come once again to participate in the 18th Hive Village Korean Contest Learning from Korea ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐Ÿ๐Ÿฅ‚

If you ask me which Korean tradition, art, or skill I would choose to learn and practice, I would choose Korean cooking.

I am a homemaker and I love to cook. For me, the kitchen is an important part of the home, where family, flavors, and the best happy moments come together. Lately, with so many TV shows and social media, I've seen so many Korean dishes that it's impossible not to want to make one. And I love cooking and trying new dishes.

Unlike other Korean activities that would also be interesting to practice, such as language, reading, taekwondo, or calligraphy, learning to cook Korean food can be done in my own kitchen, with my pots and pans, to feed my family. It's a skill I use daily and find very beautiful and practical. Plus, it's very nutritious.

Why Korean food?

There's something about Korean cuisine that really draws my attention. I see colorful dishes like bibimbap: rice mixed with vegetables, meat, and a fried egg on top; and I find it very eye-catching, or the famous kimchi: spicy fermented cabbage. I like how they use so many fermented vegetables and foods, which, from what I've read, are super healthy and delicious.

image.png kimchi

I'd really like to learn how to make a good bulgogi: marinated meat that looks tender and full of flavor, or those spicy rice cakes called tteokbokki. It's not just about the recipe, but about preparing a nutritious and enjoyable meal that everyone will enjoy.

image.png image.png
bulgogi/tteokbokk

How would it enrich my life?

Learning Korean cuisine wouldn't just mean adding new recipes to my repertoire.

First, it would enrich my table and my health. I love the idea of โ€‹โ€‹including more fermented foods like kimchi in my family's diet, for all the digestive benefits they offer. Plus, Korean food is usually very balanced, with rice, vegetables, and lots of meat. Eating healthy is good for your health, and Korean food is full of healthy ingredients.

image.png eat

Secondly, through Korean cuisine, I would learn to better understand Korean culture. Every time I try or cook a dish from another country, I feel like I'm traveling a little. Learning Korean cuisine would help me understand its customs, celebrations, and daily life. Why is kimchi so important? How is it traditionally served? It's as if each ingredient has a bit of Korean history, or perhaps that of any other country and its cuisine.

Thirdly, and this is very personal, it would increase my creativity in the kitchen. Sometimes I fall into the routine of always preparing the same thing. Korean flavors (that sweet, salty, spicy, and umami touch) are very different from what we usually use, and exploring these combinations would be a very exciting challenge for both me and my family.

In short, I would choose Korean cuisine because it's a practical and healthy skill, and a way to travel without leaving home. My goal isn't to be a professional chef, but rather a homemaker capable of bringing a Korean dish to the family table, cooked with my own hands and with great care. It would be my way of bringing a little piece of Korea into my home.

I nominate @suisver @ismeris @angeluxx

ESPAร‘OL

ยฐ 18 Aprendiendo de Corea ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐Ÿ๐Ÿฅ‚

image.png

Y me encanta cocinar y probar nuevos platos.

Me gusta cรณmo usan tantas verduras y alimentos fermentados, que, por lo que he leรญdo, son sรบper saludables y deliciosos.

image.png kimchi

image.png image.png
bulgogi/tteokbokk

ยฟCรณmo enriquecerรญa mi vida?

Aprender cocina coreana no solo significarรญa aรฑadir nuevas recetas a mi repertorio.

Primero, enriquecerรญa mi mesa y mi salud.

Aprender cocina coreana me ayudarรญa a comprender sus costumbres, celebraciones y vida cotidiana.
