Hola amigos de esta linda comunidad de Hive Margarita, por primera vez publicó por acá para contarles mi experiencia caminando por tercer año consecutivo en la 3era Gran Caminata en honor y Acción de Gracias a la Virgen del Valle. Una caminata que, como lo dice en su nombre, es su tercer año y en la que yo he tenido la oportunidad de estar desde el primer año.

Hello friends of this beautiful community of Hive Margarita, for the first time I published here to tell you about my experience walking for the third consecutive year in the 3rd Great Walk in honor and Thanksgiving to the Virgin of the Valley. Como margariteña que soy, estoy muy orgullosa de participar en esta caminata en la cual van miles y miles de personas, cada una hace el recorrido por un motivo o una razón propia, pero todos en conjunto por la Virgen del Valle, Nuestra Patrona de Oriente. Esta Caminata tiene como punto de encuentro la Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Valle de los Guaiqueríes en Porlamar a las 6:30 de la mañana, en donde todas las personas se reúnen a esperar a la imagen de la Virgen del Valle de los Guaquiries y este año que también nos acompaña la imagen del Beato Doctor José Gregorio Hernández. El recorrido es de aproximadamente unos 5 kilómetros hasta la basílica menor de Nuestra Señora del Valle. Este año duró casi dos horas la caminata, recordando que se va a paso lento, ya que es complicado ir rápido entre tanta gente y que la idea tampoco es cansarse rápido.
En el recorrido se ven muchísimas personas con su franela de la Virgen del Valle y de su basílica o detalles más pequeños como collares, zarcillos, bandanas e incluso personas que llevan su imagen de la Virgen del Valle y la llevan todo el camino hasta el Valle de Espíritu Santo que es donde termina el recorrido y en donde en la iglesia se da una misa, muchas personas se quedan a escucharla o se quedan caminando el Valle. Eso sí, lo que muchas personas llegamos buscando apenas llegamos a la basílica es un pequeño lugar donde nos podamos sentar con sombra y descansar un rato y/o desayunar, ya que es bastante fuerte todo el sol que se agarra durante el camino y que es normal cansarse después de hacer un recorrido tan largo, por eso es importante ir con protector solar o llevar tu gorrita, visera o lentes de sol para estar bien cuidado.

As a Margariteña, I am very proud to participate in this walk in which thousands and thousands of people go, each one makes the journey for a reason or a reason of their own, but all together for the Virgin of the Valley, Our Patroness of the East. This walk has as its meeting point the Church of Our Lady of the Valley of the Guaqueríes in Porlamar at 6:30 in the morning, where all the people gather to wait for the image of the Virgin of the Valley of the Guaqueríes and this year we are also accompanied by the image of Blessed Doctor José Gregorio Hernández. The route is approximately 5 kilometers to the minor basilica of Our Lady of the Valley. This year the walk lasted almost two hours, remembering that the pace is slow, since it is difficult to go fast among so many people and the idea is not to get tired quickly.
On the route you can see many people with their flannel of the Virgin of the Valley and her basilica or smaller details such as necklaces, earrings, bandanas and even people who carry their image of the Virgin of the Valley and carry it all the way to the Valley of Espiritu Santo which is where the tour ends and where a mass is given in the church, many people stay to listen to it or stay walking the Valley. Of course, what many people come looking for as soon as we arrive at the basilica is a small place where we can sit in the shade and rest for a while and / or have breakfast. It is very important to wear sunscreen or bring your hat, visor or sunglasses to be well cared for, because the sun is very strong during the trip and it is normal to get tired after such a long journey.

Durante el camino también se pasa por la iglesia del Poblado, el puente de la Avenida Fajardo, en donde este año desde arriba lanzaron pétalos blancos en el momento en que pasaron las imágenes. Tristemente, no lo pude ver porque iba algo más atrás en la caminata. También este año y el pasado (no recuerdo si el primer año también) nos acompañaba una Samba que daba bastante alegría y ambiente al camino. En Margarita está la costumbre de caminar el 8 de septiembre hasta la basílica de la Virgen del Valle por su cumpleaños, pero desde que mi familia y yo vimos esta caminata hace 3 años, decidimos hacerlo también y ¡qué bueno que lo hicimos! Me agrada un montón que la caminata empiece temprano para que, al menos la primera media hora, el sol no esté todavía en su totalidad y no haga tanto calor, sobre todo en este mes de agosto que está haciendo mucho calor en la isla.
Es un recorrido en donde puedes conseguirte personas que ya conozcas y tenías años sin ver o incluso conocer nuevas, además de que si vas con tus amigos o familia compartes un buen rato, sin duda es una experiencia muy bonita y que voy a seguir haciendo todos los años que pueda, por mi Virgen del Valle. ¡Muchas gracias por leer este post!

During the walk you also pass by the Poblado church, the Fajardo Avenue bridge, where this year white petals were thrown from above as the images passed by. Sadly, I couldn't see it because I was a bit further back in the walk. Also this year and last year (I don't remember if the first year also) we were accompanied by a Samba that gave a lot of joy and atmosphere to the walk. In Margarita it is the custom to walk on September 8 to the basilica of the Virgen del Valle for her birthday, but since my family and I saw this walk 3 years ago, we decided to do it too and it was a good thing we did! I like a lot that the hike starts early so that, at least the first half hour, the sun is not yet at its fullest and it is not so hot, especially in this month of August that is getting very hot on the island.
It is a tour where you can meet people you already know and had years without seeing or even meet new ones, plus if you go with your friends or family you share a good time, it is certainly a very nice experience and I will continue to do as many years as I can, for my Virgen del Valle.
