Hello, friends of this community! I hope you are doing well and having a great start of the week. I know I haven't been here for a while, but I'm back to tell you how was the whole process of making my graduation cap, starting with the search of fabric for it. A few weeks before I was already thinking whether to make it out of cardboard or fabric, it was a big indecision because I had never made a fabric biretta before and maybe cardboard would be better, but I didn't want it to split or get wet and get damaged very easily, so my mom offered me her help and I decided to make it out of fabric.

¡Hola, amigos de esta comunidad! Espero que se encuentren muy bien y estén teniendo un buen inicio de semana. Sé que tenía un tiempo sin aparecer por acá, pero ya estoy de vuelta para contarles cómo fue todo el proceso de hacer mi birrete de graduación, empezando por la búsqueda de tela para el mismo. Unas cuantas semanas antes yo ya venía pensando si hacerlo de cartulina o de tela, fue toda una indecisión porque nunca había hecho un birrete de tela y de cartulina tal vez me saldría mejor, pero no quería que al ser cartulina se partiera o que si se mojara se dañara muy fácil, así que mi mamá me ofreció su ayuda y decidí hacerlo de tela.

We decided to go to "El Castillo", which you know is a place full of fabrics, here in Venezuela, I would say, the right place if you are looking for some fabric. When we arrived, I didn't even know what specific fabric I was looking for and had to use. A girl who worked there was the one who helped me to tell me and show me the fabrics that were normally used to make the birettas.
There my mom and I spent some time deciding which one I wanted or would look better, black, because that was the color I wanted and it would look better with how I was going to decorate it on top. We also could not miss the trip to the castle and we went to the haberdashery section, where I was looking at several of these flannels, which I think are very nice and made of good material. I already have a few, but I still stopped by to see what colors they had and the sizes. Besides that, I could not miss browsing in the small stationery section they have, as you know, I am a person who likes to paint, make crafts, draw and, among other things, it is inevitable for me not to see everything they had stationery.

Decidimos ir a "El Castillo", que saben que es un lugar lleno de telas, acá en Venezuela, diría yo, el lugar indicado si buscas alguna tela. Cuando llegamos, ni siquiera sabía qué tela en específico buscaba y tenía que usar. Una chica que trabajaba ahí fue la que me ayudó a decirme y enseñarme las telas que se usaban para hacer los birretes normalmente.
Ahí estuvimos mi mamá y yo un rato decidiendo cuál quería o quedaría mejor, eso sí, de color negro, porque de ese color lo quería e iba a quedar mejor con cómo lo iba a decorar por encima. También no pudimos desaprovechar la ida al castillo y pasamos por la sección de Mercería, donde estuve viendo varias de estas franelas, las cuales me parecen muy bonitas y de buen material. Ya tengo unas cuantas, pero igual pasé viendo qué colores tenían y las tallas. Además de que no podía faltar que me quedara ojeando en la pequeña sección de papelería que tienen, como saben, soy una persona a la que le gusta pintar, hacer manualidades, dibujar y, entre otras cosas, que se me hace inevitable no ver todo lo que tenían de papelería.
