Hello everyone! I hope you are doing well, today I'm here to show you and tell you about my experience painting a flannel for the first time and at first nothing went as I expected or wanted. I painted this flannel with the illusion of using it in the days of the festivities of the Virgen del Valle, because every year I see people with some flannel of her and I think that for next year I want to have one myself, but with my family did not give us a chance to buy some together, I decided to paint one to use it.

¡Hola a todos! Espero que se encuentren muy bien, hoy paso por acá para mostrarles y hablarles de mi experiencia pintando una franela por primera vez y que al principio nada salió como esperaba o quería. Esta franela la pinté con la ilusión de usarla en los días de las festividades de la Virgen del Valle, ya que todos los años que vamos veo a las personas con alguna franela de ella y pienso que para el próximo año quiero tener yo una, pero con mi familia no nos dio chance a comprar unas en conjunto, decidí pintarme una para usarla.

To start, I needed the flannel, which is a simple one that I got in the castle, a black textile paint and two brushes, although I could have painted with just one, but that depends on the design to be done on the flannel. The first thing I did was to trace on a sheet of paper what I was going to paint to put it inside the flannel next to a cardboard so as not to stain the flannel inside, and so I could see that it was centered and would be as I wanted, since it was the first time I was painting a flannel I did not want to damage it or do something wrong, although it ended up being like this.

Para empezar, necesité la franela, la cual es una sencilla que conseguí en el castillo, una pintura textil de color negro y dos pinceles, aunque perfectamente pude haber pintado con solo uno, pero eso ya depende del diseño que se vaya a hacer en la franela. Lo primero que hice fue trazar en una hoja lo que iba a pintar para ponerlo dentro de la franela junto a un cartón para no manchar la franela por dentro, y así iba a poder ver que quedara centrado y me fuera a quedar como quería, ya que al ser la primera vez que estaba pintando una franela no quería dañarlo o hacer algo mal, aunque terminó siendo así.

After a few very delicate brush strokes and very slowly because they had to be thin, I noticed that they didn't look very good. At the time I thought it was because I was using the wrong brush or because my hand was shaking a bit. I kept going until the first accident happened, because without realizing it, I made a smudge with the brush. I didn't worry because I was still missing it and I could paint over it so it wouldn't show.

Luego de unas cuantas primeras pinceladas muy delicadas y bien despacio porque tenían que ser delgadas, noté que no me quedaban muy bien. En el momento pensé que era porque estaba usando el pincel que no era o porque me estaba temblando algo la mano. Seguí hasta que ocurrió el primer accidente, ya que sin darme cuenta con el pincel, hice una mancha. No me preocupé porque todavía me faltaba y podía pintar encima de ella para que no se notara.

I continued painting and while I was making the smaller drawings that went around the virgin I accidentally passed my hand through the flannel to stretch it when the seashell paint was still fresh, and there I got frustrated because I could not remove the stain in any way, I do not even know if there is a way to remove this paint, but I tried with different soaps, alcohol and other things, it ended up staining much more, and nothing worked so I gave up and did not want to continue painting, until I decided that if or if I wanted to go with my a flannel painted by me, I bought another one to try one last time.

Seguí pintando y mientras hacía los dibujos más pequeños que iban alrededor de la virgen sin querer pase la mano por la franela para estirarla cuando aún estaba fresca la pintura de la concha de mar, y ahí me frustre porque no conseguí quitar lo que manche de ninguna forma, ni siquiera sé si hay una forma de quitar esta pintura, pero intente con distintos jabones, alcohol y otras cosas, se terminó manchando mucho más, y nada funcionó por lo que me rendí y no quise seguir pintando, hasta que decidí que si o si quería ir con mi una franela pintada por mí, compré otra para intentarlo una última vez.

The flannel that I stained I am still looking to fix it either by painting it with another color but I will tell you about that later. Now with the new shirt I was much more careful than before, I repeated the process and as I already had some practice from the previous one, I felt that the strokes were much more beautiful and straight. I painted the virgin, the birds, the lighthouse, the seashell and the empanada without staining anything and it was very nice, I couldn't be happier wearing my flannel after several days painting, thank you very much for reading this far, I hope you liked this post!

La franela que manche todavía estoy buscando arreglarla ya sea pintando con otro color pero eso se los contaré después. Ahora con la nueva camisa fui muchísimo más cuidadosa que antes, repetí el proceso y como ya tenía algo de práctica de la anterior, sentí que los trazos me quedaron mucho más bonitos y derechos. Pinté la virgen, los pájaros, el faro, la concha de mar y la empanada sin manchar nada y quedo muy bonito, no pude estar más feliz usando mi franela despues de varios días pintando, muchas gracias por leer hasta aquí, ¡espero que les haya gustado este post!
