Sneaky shadow dudes... now also in Killteam.
Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - Datasheet Review post! I have recently needed to take a new direction. All the details about that is found Here - The Great 40k Review Plan
This is not to just regurgitating the stats and skills. I provide my own assessment of what I think of the unit and its capabilities. Often... about how to use them best... or how to kill them best!
Hobby Fund - Working myself into the clear
With my hobby posts, I generate a hobby fund. 50% of the income goes into the fund. At the moment I put all my HBD earned from Warhammer posts into my alt account @zakl.hobbyfund.
I am collecting funds in the following ways: - Blogging about Warhammer to earn HBD - Accepting donations - Can be sent directly to @zakl.hobbyfund in HBD - Selling some of the collection to friends.
I will do a new estimation of what I owe soon!
Back to the review!
Drukhari, Mandrakes
10th Edition Index
I don't know too much about Mandrakes except that they appear and disappear on the battlefield all the time.
They are supposed to be fairly good in melee but they are generally known to arrive out of nowhere in an uncomfortable place and have fairly damaging shooting attacks.
They are 65pts for 5 and 120pts for 10 of them.
Let's check their stats!
Stats
Movement 8" Toughness 3 Save 7+/5++(armor/invul/Feel No Pain) Wounds 1 Ld 6+ OC 1
Weapons
Weapon Loadout: Baleblast, Glimmersteel Blade
Ranged Weapons
Baleblast
18" Range, 2 Shots, Hitting on 3+, S5, AP0 and 1 Damage each. Assault (This weapon can be fired after this model Advances) Devastating Wounds - Rolls of a 6 on the Wound roll score Mortal Wounds.
Melee Weapons
Glimmersteel Blade
3 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S5, AP0 and 1 Damage each.
Abilities
Stealth - When targeted by a Ranged Attack, the enemy suffers a -1 to Hit. Infiltrators - They can be set up in No-Mans-Land outside of 9" of the enemy Deployment Zone.
Fade Away
At the end of the opponent's turn, if this unit is not in Engagement range of enemy units, you can remove them from the battlefield and set them up on the board in your Reinforcements step anywhere on the Battlefield more thatn 9" away from enemy models.
Thoughts
Their shooting attack is not exactly over powered but can do a decent amount of damage. Their melee capability is fair.
Their main value comes from their ability to move quickly and reposition on the board a lot. As far as utility goes, they are amazing. Their redeploy is in the Movement phase and thus they are free to shoot and thus allowed to perform Actions.
This means a 65pts 5 man unit is great for Secondary objectives. Their damage output is something secondary that is there for in case of some small damage output.
