12k steps in Canada in September and there are bound to be signs of fall. Not that I will relinquish summer just yet, I will just enjoy their feeble attempts. Changing leaf colours and road work are definite signs of autumn.
My weekly day on the town brought me many places this hot September day clocking in at 27 Celsius (80 in freedom units) and my car is just there waiting to be bought!
Most of the trees are still green but it is the little splashes of change that catch your eye.
There are more obvious signs.
Downtown still plenty busy with many people still in from out of town to see the end of the theatre season. Those from the south might actually enjoy autumn a little earlier up here than they are used to.
My weekly shot from the steps of city hall show a little overcast but still bright and summery.
Flowers on the right scream summer and the first of the yellow fallen leaves suggest autumn.
Traffic is a little lighter and there are just a few more available parking spots compared to the peak in August.
This tree on my street lights up the most vibrant orange and red every year. Just starting to show a little colour on the south side but give it a couple weeks!
The day wouldn’t feel complete without a trip to lounge in the dog park. Days like these, with cooler ones promised in the coming weeks, will keep me warm in the dark cold winter nights.
Not that this guy cares whether it is hot or cold. Good motivation to get out and enjoy some fresh air no matter what season it is.
The bees are slowing down a little as the season draws on. This one rests on the goldenrod and is probably preparing reserves for a long hibernation in hopes of seeing next spring.
Back home for a little garden maintenance. I should put together a full hive garden post but here is my habanero plant as a highlight
Starting to harvest those and the dozens of tomatoes that are ready to go. Still dozens of green ones left to ripen and we will hopefully be eating fresh ones right into October.
The sun I setting just a little earlier now and soon, it will be going down at 5pm in the middle of winter.
Makes it easy to enjoy summer on bright hot days like this! 12k steps well spent.
