It is not like the first 3/4 of the summer wasn't packed with adventure. Still, a couple of the biggest weekends are falling in the last couple weeks of August. Here are a few shots from this last weekend of fun. For so much going on, remarkable how few pictures I thought to take during the fun.
Golf!
To start the weekend a little early on Friday afternoon with a round of golf. Seaforth Golf & Country Club is a course I have never golfed before and is apparently the 18th best golf course in Canada.
I started out a little rough on the round but, after the swing oil kicked in, I hit some damn fine shots. Toward the end of the round, I put my driver away, golfed like an old man and hit a 4-iron off the tee. My long irons saved me and I ended up breaking 90. I did take a mulligan on the first 9 so it was really over 90 but recreational golf is all about the beer and the cheating.
Karaoke Night!
After the round, I headed into the big city to meet the guys at the jam studio for a little birthday karaoke! We have jammed in this room so much time as a band, it is nice to be able to take it over with 4 microphones and gang sing rock songs.
After 3 hours of debauchery and belting out all kinds of tunes, the guys were not done yet. Next, we were off to a dive bar they had discovered a few months back where you sit at a bar and sing songs with the locals. Great way to get out with the locals and have a couple more before bedtime at 2:30.
Sailing!
The next morning, I met up with the crew for a regatta! Sailing race on Lake Ontario starts early after a night like that but I made it in plenty of time.
The crew was in good spirits and ready for another round of pints between races. After the first day, we were 4th in our fleet which is pretty impressive as we are just getting used to this new bigger boat and racing against experienced crews on boats they know.
Party Time!
This was a stage of the weekend that my phone barely made it out of my pocket. A summer party with maybe 100 people at the house of someone I have known a couple decades. So many people to catch up with and fun to be had, the only snap I managed was of the arcade in his sub garage. It doesn't do the epic bash justice but man I wish I could afford to have a games room like this in my place!
Back to Sailing
I can tell you 8am came DAMN early and it was a struggle to get up and do it all again. I trim sails which is a lot of rope pulling and grinding so I woke up feeling I had just gone 15 rounds after the first day and extended party. Still feeling kinda rough but it is great to knock the rust off and get some serious racing in.
Back to the Jam Studio!
Right after the last race and a couple cool ones, it was time to head to another music studio. This one is with the guys in the band and our final rehearsal before our sets at a music festival this coming weekend. Long time followers might recall the stories from years past but this is one of the highlights of the week. Yes I am excited for the upcoming cottage/music festival weekend and am setting you up for Super-Fun-Happy-Weekend Part 2 next week!
