I am again on time for #WeekendExperiences by @galenkp as I so often miss the deadline because I am still enjoying the weekend. This week's post can be found at https://hive.blog/hive-168869/@galenkp/weekend-engagement-topics-week-275 I also love #SublimeSunday (inspired by @c0ff33a) and #BeautifulSunday (initiated by @ace108) with no time limits and are equally as fun to follow.

This weekend, I am taking a look around town, catching up on the brewing, and enjoying a summery September weekend.

First things first! The Prompt!

Has marketing ever made you buy something you should not have? Explain.

I was going to talk about how most of what we buy is because of marketing but I reread the question. I can safely say marketing has never made me buy anything. My wife can make me buy something but not marketing. Now, I think valentines day is a bit of a marketing mechanism and I have felt compelled to buy things I regularly don't. But something I shouldn't have bought? No not that either.

Now Back to the Weekend

After a bunch of busy weekends in August, I have been enjoying some quieter ones close to home. There are some really neat spots in town I like to visit and late summer is about the perfect time.

There seems to always be something going on. One of them this weekend was the Dragonboat Festival. A couple thousand people from all around visit either to compete, spectate, or join the party with all the live music and festivities. I was voluntold onto a team last year and it was challenging and fun to learn and compete. Damn good party too but I have plans.

Brew Day!

IMG_6725.JPG

Vacation and adventure sure screwed with our brewing schedule over this last half of summer. Today, we caught up, firing on all cylinders with all 3 brewers boiling. The little brewers have a German Alt and an Irish Red while the first batch on the big brewer is our trademark Amber.

IMG_6727.JPG

When the Amber is done, we roll the brewer over and grain up the NEIPA. I think twice the amount of grains go into our IPAs as well as oats and crushed wheat. Then there are the hops......so many hops.

While we often enjoy our own beer while brewing, we also like to sample those made by others for inspiration. On his travels, our head brewer ran across this one and brought it home for the panel to evaluate. Brown is the new Black Lager by Parsons Brewing in the up-and-coming Prince Edward County brewing region was a tasty and malty treat! Plus, we enjoy the pain brewers have to go through to brew a lager and would rather enjoy their lagers while we pump out our ales.

We have all 3 big fermenters fermenting as well as the little ones so we will have some kegging to do in 10-17 days!

The Rest

IMG_6745.JPG

I did get some rest in. Something glorious about an afternoon nap on the weekend. Then, it was off to the dog park so the little guy could have the time of his life each day. Today was sunny and 28 Celsius so summery as anything and such a nice walk in the park in the early evening.

IMG_6733.JPG

Fight as much as I do to extend summer as long as I possibly can, I do enjoy the colours of late summer and fall. IN the park, one of the maples is giving up early and throwing up the red gang colours. Plenty of deciduous and hardwood up in these parts so I should be able to share some tree fireworks in the next month and a bit.

The sun has gone down, a little earlier in the evening than last month, and we are at the end of another weekend adventure. Such a nice slow weekend with some work put in that will have us in beer for a couple more weeks! I have some plans to get back up to the cottage one or 2 more times and there is plenty of work to do so I will see you next #sublimesunday.

Thanks for joining me on another weekend adventure!
