I am again on time for #WeekendExperiences by @galenkp as I so often miss the deadline because I am still enjoying the weekend. This week's post can be found at https://hive.blog/hive-168869/@galenkp/weekend-engagement-topics-week-271 I also love #SublimeSunday (inspired by @c0ff33a) and #BeautifulSunday (initiated by @ace108) with no time limits and are equally as fun to follow.
This weekend, was unexpectedly under-booked and a good time to slow down before a couple huge weekends.
First things first! The Prompt!
Generous or selfish, which are you and why?
Seriously, who is gonna answer selfish? A few lonely rebels I suppose but I figure most people see themselves as generous.
I am a bit of both to be honest. I don't believe you can be generous without having been selfish and accumulating enough to share when it comes to resources. Even if it is hard work that gets you ahead far enough to be generous and help some other folks get ahead. That probably means you were selfish with your time at points to make the progress needed. Anyhow, I have been appreciating the balance between things the last while and there is no yin without a yang. So I believe people who survive, thrive and are generous at point in between have been situationally selfish.
This weekend seemed weird because I realized at the last moment that I did not have big plans. Weekends already past have been peppered with camping, travelling, golfing, vacationing and all kinds of other fun stuff. This weekend, I found myself sleeping in, catching up slowly on home stuff, and finding plenty of time for afternoon naps and the daily stroll in the dog park.
Whatever this summer has served so far, I have been pretty successful in bringing the little guy to his happy place almost every day. Weekends are even better with a lack of competing scheduled events.
Downtown
Seeing as happiness is as much decision as anything in a busy life, so too is the decision to head downtown and enjoy a little local happiness. Happiness also loves company and here are a nice mix of locals and tourists enjoying a little Al Fresco dining and drinks on one of our treasured terraces at Revivial House Some treasures are right under our noses.
Business and Pleasure
Weekends are prime time for restaurants in town. The terrace in the previous section is a client and so is Raja Fine Indian Cuisine Here is my friend Zafar happy at work providing the tastiest of Bangladeshi-inspired Indian food to locals and tourists as well. Makes me hungry remembering how great this place smells!
Sailing Sunday with #knot
Since the big man bought another racing sailboat after a 7 year hiatus, sailing is back on this summer! Sunday races are sublime because we get to gather on the boat, rig it up for a casual race, and figure out how to make this one go fast. Next weekend is a full 2 days of regatta sailing so I will be missing #beersaturday but have more adventure to sail. This time, from the high seas....or Great Lakes as it were.
Some of the best summer moments for me are jumping on the boat, strapping on the sailing gloves, and drinking a pint to get ready for a race. Makes for a beautiful Sunday for sure.
Only 1 pint thought as we all have to drive home from the lake afterwards. Here, I am driving behind the big man in his early 70s Datson 280Z. Summer weekends are for classic cars too.
Speaking of Beer
Our latest IPA, I swapped out the flavour hops in hopes of lessening a dominant sweetness to a more balanced sweet/full/bitter balance. The holy grail in IPA as far as I am concerned. This is the hazy NEIPA I am enjoying as I pen this post. I love a slight malt body and think we are pretty close to the perfect IPA. Enjoying the hell out of this one and about ready to enter it into the provincial brewing contest in a month or so.
The sun has set on a rather sublime and beautiful Sunday. The next couple weekends will contain a birthday concert, weekend regatta, summer pool party, night in the studio rehearsing, then a music festival with camping and wilderness fun. Working on ending this fantastic summer in a big way!
