Since we've got an account on this streaming platform, I've taken the opportunity to watch some of its works. Previously, I remember what a real BOOM this installment of one of the most iconic characters to have existed since the 1960s was. When social media is flooded with the same content, it doesn't motivate me to watch it because it seems "absurd" to me. And today, three years since the first installment of Wednesday premiered, I've decided to watch it.

At first, the idea of this chilling character becoming a kind of "detective" obsessed with solving problems around her seemed a bit absurd to me. I've always seen her as having a different perspective than the average person; she seems to enjoy what we call suffering. But the fact that she wants to solve the problems around her seems a bit contradictory on her part. Then I realized this is a young adult series, and the way it all unfolded was perfect.

What sets this Addams Family apart from the ones we've already seen is that everyone apparently has magical powers, something that wasn't very common before. On the other hand, I wasn't a huge fan of the first season; on the contrary, I liked the second one better. Despite only the first part being shown so far, I've been incredibly fascinated with what's been shown so far.

I don't think it's a secret (or a curious fact) that for us Latin Americans, this iconic girl is called Merlina. In my opinion, it's because Wednesday is a day of the week, and it would be strange to call her that, even though in Spain they do know her by that name in translation. Also, we sometimes use this word as a rude expression, by the way, similar to a strong word, just as it means "hindrance" (at least in Venezuela it is). And although I'm not sure if this drastic change in the name is due to the points I mentioned, it would have been a bit controversial to have given it that name and it would have been the subject of ridicule for us. This also happens with the other characters: Gomez Addams (Homer Addams), Pugsley Addams (Pericles Addams), Uncle Fester (Uncle Lucas), etc. The only one who doesn't suffer these changes is Morticia Addams, who does keep her name.

In this series, we're introduced to some characters who are slowly becoming iconic. Such as Bianca and Agnes, who are some of my favorites for their unique personalities. On the one hand, we see Bianca, a beautiful mermaid who initially appears to be a bit of a villain, but ultimately becomes a key ally for our protagonist. And on the other hand, there's Agnes, who makes her first appearance in the new season, a follower of Merlina, and who displays skills necessary for the plot's development.

References were a must in this series, as there were obviously things to respect, such as Wednesday's strange affection for her brother, her rivalry with her mother, and her very good relationship with her father. I think this series has the necessary elements to present a good horror experience for a young audience. I haven't seen a series like this in a long time, I think since I saw Sabrina on Netflix. On the other hand, I've been satisfied with what's been shown so far, since Netflix has implemented a new approach where they only release half of their series. I think this is because they want to ensure more subscriptions in a row as a way to guarantee sales. We saw this approach not long ago with Squid Game, but unlike that one, they didn't leave the story halfway through; instead, they knew how to pause it.
