Gathers Gown // A Worthy Experience

Lately it seems all my sewing process has a situation and backed by a story. This is another ride, I hope you are in for it. First of all I would thank the Lord that made this day finally a reality. Yes, it's a just concluded thanksgivings service I attended and rocking the dress made by yours truly (me). The story behind this very dress is one I just had to share alongside my sewing process. So I was set out to purchase this fabric, which happened to be a uniform that was chosen to be worn on our thanksgivings day. The uniform was quite scarce, it was supposed to be bought in a group where a particular person was to get the money for purchasing of fabric, but since the turn up was quite poor, the person was reluctant to purchase the fabric in bulk and only did it in batches when she was paid, along the line she couldn't do that again cause of the low turn up, so the last batch were left to purchase the fabric on their own. And looking for the fabric was quite a hurdle for me, I went to literally all the shops and markets I knew that sold fabrics, but couldn't find this particular fabric. My last stop which I promised myself I would go back home if I didn't find it there happened to be my second to the last stop So one lady at my next stop helped me in reaching out to someone she felt night have the fabric and thankfully, it was available. ___  ___ On getting the fabric, I took it home, hoping to cut and start my sewing the next day, only to find out that my machine developed some faults so I couldn't start sewing, I had to reach out to my machine engineer to come service and work on the machine, which took him almost the whole day because of the sudden and urgent information passed, he had to travel all the way from where he was to my home to fix the machine for me. That day also, I couldn't sew because it took the guy the whole day to work on my machine to fix and adjust things to how they should be. The next morning I decided to finally settle and start working on my dress, I started already and half way into it, I got badly injured, still because of a challenge that my machine engineer overlooked and didn't bother to adjust on my machine for me. ___  ___ I was pained, hurt and angry, not because that issue was overlooked but simply because I hate to get hurt or injured, my body is very fragile and a little injury leave a scar or lasting effect and this very injury was in a very terrible place that would take a while to heal. I called my engineer immediately that accident took place to inform him about it which he fixed for me that same day and I was able to finish up the remaining part of my dress. ___  ___ Looks like the devil tried all he could to stop me from attending that thanksgiving, seeing how reluctant I was at first to even purchase the fabric and sew on time, I had to do it at the di-minute and I had to sew it myself since I didn't want to rush any seamstress at that di minute moment to sew the dress for me which they would end up charging me higher than usual, so I settled to sew the cloth myself. I will share my work process with you guys, I used my pattern paper to draft the style I needed with my basic body measurements before cutting it out on the fabric. To God be the glory, the thanksgivings service went pretty well and yes, my lovely dress sat so beautiful on me and I got some really good reviews on my dress and that made me so happy that after every unforeseen circumstances I encountered, it was worth it all and I thank God for that.
