Happy new week everyone, greetings to every needle worker , how are you all doing? Today's episode of needlework is that of recycling. So have you ever recycled an old clothing into a new one? I know a lot of people must have done that before. How we turn our favourite worn out dresses into some other useful things like rags etc. But in this case I am not talking about worn out dresses or turning them into rags, I am talking about clothing that could still be worn and which is still very much useful.
For today, my submission is an old dress I recycled into another useful clothing. So I recycled my old gown into a short to be worn at home. The old dress no longer fit so instead of just discarding the dress which was still very much fine and lovely, I decided to recycle and reuse it. Looking at how the colour of the material was still very much intact.
I will be showing you without wasting more time how I recycled my old dress (gown) into a new short
# Materials Used
* Old gown
* A pair of scissors
* Pins
* Marking chalks
* Ruler
* Measuring tape
* Elastic
* Thread
* Razor

# Procedures
What did I do first? Ofcourse I started by losening the old gown, every part of that dress was loosen and all pieces detached and separated.
___

___
After detaching and piecing the gown, I spread it out and used part of the gown to make a new folding to mark out my measurements for the short I intended to create out of it. I took a while trying to figure out if the measurements would fit the folded fabric, I mean it's an old fabric so I had to strategically determine the measurements on it so I don't waste the fabric since I wouldn't have another to replace if I were to make any mistakes.
___

___
After making the appropriate markings and measurements on the fabric, I cut out the marked and measured parts, that is the front part of the short, which I later placed on the second part of the old fabric to make the back cutting of the short.
___

___
I wanted to use elastic for the waist band so I added extra 3 inch allowance to the main short when taking my measurements
I also measured the appropriate inches of the waist band according to the measurements on the main fabric and not just my initial waist measurement, this is because of the extra inches added to the waist.
___

___
After all the cutting process was done, I started with the seaming processes, the first part I seamed was the crotch lines, then I did the side seaming before I eventually did the hemming. I also went ahead to attach the waist band to the waist of the short, inserting the elastic as well.
___

___
And this was the final result of my short making after sewing and attaching every single part of the cut pieces. This can easily be worn around the house and I like the idea of recycling my old dress into a new short.
___

___
That's it for today's needleworkmonday, I hope you like my submission for this week. The idea is that you could recycle your old clothing sometimes and not everything should be discarded.
Do have a lovely new week!
