"My Life as a Loser" is a story about a guy who's name is Jinu-Kim, he is leading a terrible life as he has no career. Because he could not focus on his life due to the bullies in his high school life. The bullying was at an extend level where Jinu started to stutter, he could not speak properly anymore because his mental health got worse.
Even though after high school he could not get any better and often is demeaned by the younger group of bullies. His job is also not respectful and people takes him as lowly. One day he was on his way to take his pay and then he came to think of how his biggest bully Ancheol Jang doing in life, as he was a bully he must have been in worse place with his group of bullies.
When Jinu reached the place to collect his payment, he saw Ancheol is the owner of the shop he worked for. At first Ancheol could not recognize him but when his old friends from high school came at the same place they pointed at Jinu. Ancheol with a big laugh gave extra money to Jinu as compensation for the past time. But Jinu was feeling humiliated as the life he is living is because of Ancheol, if it was for him then Jinu would be in a great position today.
Jinu wanted a sincere apology but Ancheol could not remember anything he did in the past time. This made Jinu frustrated he ran and jumped off the railing where there was three floors below them. Ancheol tried to stop Jinu but it was too late, Jinu didn't even realize they were at a higher place, while falling Jinu cursed Ancheol to suffer from the pain Jinu went through and wished if only he could get second chance in life.
Jinu suddenly woke up and was being beaten by the people who used to bully Jinu with Ancheol. After a while it is disclosed that Ancheol is living in Jinu's body and the person he is against is himself from the past. He got beaten up by his past self and Jinu appeared saying that Ancheol has to pay for his deeds and he must prevent four fml events and if he changes the past then these event will not occur and Ancheol will forever remain in the body of Jinu. Will ancheol repent and ever be able to get back into his body?
When I saw it's the same author as Lookism, I did not waste anymore time. I just began to read it as quickly I could. The story is interesting and pretty unique. Usually we see the innocent boy who suffers they are given second chance to travel in the past and change their past but this time it's really different. This time the victim does not get the second chance but he gets the chance to take revenge on his bully by putting the bully in the victims body.
I find it as an unique concept because we don't usually see this kind of stories. There are violences and cursing so if you are sensitive this manhwa is not for you. This is not going to be a lovey-dovey story it's going to be funny and revengeful. For the first time we will get to see the bully tasting his own medicine getting beaten up by his own self. This is about repentance, this is about how the victims feel. You will never know what the victims go through unless you are in their shoes.
This manhwa showcases the reality of the victims, they do not move on from the incidents they have gone through and their life becomes miserable. Only if the bullies knew how it feels then they could understand the victims situation. It is not easy to lead a good life if someone is bullying your 24hrs, beating you up for no reason just because they like to do it. I also feel the ones who don't take a step against the wrongs are also the same as the bullies.
Even though Ancheol got into Jinu's body he still considers Jinu as a loser. It means he has not changed. In the beginning it felt like he got better, in real he is the same old guy but now he does not want to fight with silly reasons and still he has the same attitude. He got mature but his ego is fragile. I have not finished reading it yet the season 1 is completed and there is season 2 which is also completed. I am planning to review season 2 next time, after finishing season 1. There are 53 chapters in season 1, hopefully I will finish it in 1 day.
The art style is different and funny it's not bad. I will say it's better than Lookism, I mean the art. The colors are basic it's nothing exceptional but the expressions are amazing. I laughed a lot because of the hilarious expressive faces, the faces Ancheol makes is really funny. The other characters play significant roles and it's not bad. But this time I truly like the art style it works fine for me. If they make anime out of it then that would be the coolest thing, I will watch it for sure. If you're looking for something fun to read then this manhwa is a good choice.
