The story begins with Areum, who got into a car accident. After that, she was mistaken for a vampire due to her hair color. Later on, she got abducted and was held for an auction. She's sold into slavery to a Duke's house. She is supposed to serve the master of the house, his name is Millard and he is the world’s only vampire. Areum got desperate to survive as she didn’t want to die. But Millard learned that she’s not a vampire, so he threatened to either kill or resell her. But Areum proposed to serve him as his maid. The journey of Areum trying to survive and her love life begins with Millard.
"The Maid and the Vampire" is a fantasy, mystery-romantic, or otherwise complex-relationship-type manhwa where a vampire and a human girl gradually fall in love. There's a dramatic twist if a human becomes the partner of a vampire, then the vampire will lose immortality. If the partner exterminates him, then the partner will receive the Travis family’s title and estate. This process is called the Decree. So that means Millard can be eliminated because he becomes mortal. Moreover, the second prince tries to lure Areum into his plan to go against Millard and take money from him instead — because they all want Millard to become human.
Areum is often seen saying sorry and smiling all the time despite her situation. Also, she does not do anything when the other maids are bad-mouthing or bullying her, which made me feel that the FL is very annoying and a boring character because she did not seem to have a personality. I really like it when the FL is strong and knows how to stand up for herself, but this was totally different. I can understand she’s trying to survive without causing any trouble, so she avoids it, but this makes it worse.
Well, Areum is portrayed as a naive girl who is doing everything to survive, and Millard is portrayed as a cold and soft-inside vampire. I like their bond because they solve their problems without any misunderstanding unlike other couples.
The artwork is really amazing! it gives a different type of vibe. Also, the faces didn’t look similar to any other that I have seen before, so yeah, it's really good. I don’t see any flaws in it. I think the ML is really handsome and has a cold look on his face, which makes him 10x more attractive especially when he’s blushing. On the other side, the FL also looks cute and innocent. I feel they are a good match for each other.
I will say don’t read it if you’re into high-quality isekai, because this is not that interesting. Well, if a good plot is not really required in your reading, then you can read it. I would like it more if they had highlighted her traits like why she’s got to be the FL. Also, the ML should be more desirable. I didn’t feel that much charm in his character.
Most important thing is that there are just too many plot holes that can’t be shrugged off. Sometimes it felt like the FL didn’t love the ML as much as he did, so it was a turn-off for me because I came to read something romantic, not complicated stories. Chapter 51 is the end of the main story, but it felt like something was missing. There are more side stories which has 25 chapters, but still, it didn’t feel any better.
