**Welcome to a new post, dear Hiver!** *I put off some gardening activities for later. Mainly because I've been working a lot, online, as well as making jams and selling them. Until today.* Last week, Mom bought me a gardening kit. It was something I'd wanted for a long time, but it's a bit expensive. So I've been gardening with hardware tools that were already at home. So a trowel and a spatula were my best gardening friends. Because it's an activity I dedicate a lot of time to, mostly for fun, and now because I want to start selling some plants, creating a sort of nursery, Mom decided to give them to me. She found them on sale at a store. Each one cost $1, while their price at the hardware store is $20. I saved a lot of money. About $16 to be exact, because the four tools cost her $4. |![photo_2025-08-28_15-19-14.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/zulfrontado/23xydoAZP1gvRmfF3hMWVaKvxdAeTLNV4WmePt999P773P9dUBsK5SnPo3jKg6JhdVXWA.jpg)| ![photo_2025-08-28_15-19-17.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/zulfrontado/23vsZ54pkabaX9MNukPA3jfhT1o9jrArAutSZfyxguhACLB75q9BftaVCrAQKDPydSwEq.jpg) | ![photo_2025-08-28_15-19-19.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/zulfrontado/23wqvxAbyfpNcBQJft5GximYvvZLDvtFpzxFDyHyKB1eto43w5Xv2Bt58kxhZUh2ZV8fZ.jpg) | ![photo_2025-08-28_15-19-24.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/zulfrontado/23wgYXmMDKXMzJj37n4kSExUrxxvauiJrBpRz2F1LdhxTEPst3K3Khg1mz5rL9QF28v6h.jpg) | |-|-|-| - | |Shovel|Hand rake|Crevice weeder| Planter tiller | I hadn't used them until today. As I told you, I've been working, and that takes up quite a bit of time. I decided I'm going to be completely independent. Which requires my full attention. I divide my time between my studies (which I'm almost finished) and work. It's not easy, but no one said it would be. So today I dedicated myself to the garden. Taking care of some plants. Especially the cacti and succulents. One of my cats made a mess: there were overturned pots, cacti everywhere, and battered succulents. I don't know which cat did that, but I do know I had to fix the garden plants. So the first thing I did was remove soil. I have a small space with soil. But it's been there for a long time, so it requires some strength. I took my new tools and started testing them out. The shovel, with its pointed tip, works great for digging into the soil. However, the planter tiller is even better for that. ![1000165654.gif](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/zulfrontado/23ywoLtoMtVQkGN5uqj8HLUiVPro8gCM6pLyA7KXHdKKtYVB2XgGYa8dBSSTcEQvczzNc.gif) ![1000165653.gif](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/zulfrontado/23ywq2mrMVhvpEBRj6ULgvFkyZDheWuNHLVpaFywyv5PZu3sDdhFZjdSVSoZpieiKh46L.gif) I was able to remove soil faster than normal because the tools were appropriate, filling several pots. ![photo_2025-08-28_15-34-41.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/zulfrontado/Eoc9rvC9S1Nkxsig8VeZoBHhciUBWmP2EonibyjqV5cR1zNtREaaevSPc9ZGofj3GQp.jpg) ![photo_2025-08-28_15-34-45.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/zulfrontado/EowHbknkGutUZdn11kXF5mPJ2tKxmBvbuFH4oBoA8ZvuEVab71Zzih7DU4NHPwQc6M1.jpg) ![photo_2025-08-28_15-34-55.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/zulfrontado/Eoc8U14RFwpsnqPfVWeqRUD8S82zffxYPfsXYPKtWtFFoxwzyyu3Y9RXdccMNyHR1rQ.jpg) ![photo_2025-08-28_15-34-58.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/zulfrontado/EopuMSY44pU4s5s5fs2ik1zBSvixGTm1RwG9iFhzGtyz92JcQ6yy6hsnKNCqcCB1NJc.jpg) ![photo_2025-08-28_15-35-01.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/zulfrontado/EpviuhyybHYq4YXFREmrvWCg72PWeaJvkiU9NqYQewpTYJVikFUMPzwLd7GHCArLWb9.jpg) ![photo_2025-08-28_15-34-48.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/zulfrontado/EoiXDbZmnj6rJWxHosNd2xHTy2KTu6H2ktBjeVP5MzCELkUtJBBmg81K6of9FUa8LzQ.jpg) But these aren't the only tools I use. I also still use jewelry pliers for cacti. It's very useful because it helps me avoid getting pricked by the spikes, which would happen if I picked them up with my hand. And finally, my usual scissors. Well, I have several scissors. This is one of them. I use it to cut cacti to propagate them. ![photo_2025-08-28_15-34-24.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/zulfrontado/EoCjUMyJJm5XKtdLF7yxdhKRvDyGRmJezZmt3KVuMffCGRUhERLg8sViWsttwRoFR4U.jpg) ![photo_2025-08-28_15-34-28.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/zulfrontado/Eo8UMJA748w1o5iMENkPcWfRc2ZhaQMJFa3e1A9RCpuAXyZPcnhR3PzdnP9TBKjM2jD.jpg) ![photo_2025-08-28_15-34-38.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/zulfrontado/EoChDd8TNEzCKtEJV6RcVYV8uBC83rtYxeBZc4PuZ6qu6EoHMwvVxZ5Surr2s3T4viW.jpg) They were very helpful in planting all these plants. Cacti, succulents, a palm, and aloe vera. The aloe vera joined the game at the last minute. I thought it would be a good idea to have some to give them some space. For now, they're all together in one pot. But I'll do something about it soon. I just have to find a good spot for them. ![photo_2025-08-28_15-35-04.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/zulfrontado/EpNqFzYjW8dpRsJ9wTzgbCfQDowLfa1PKU6NETc6Da1gPuZyxujLifbe4VxN8pRvMYh.jpg) ![photo_2025-08-28_15-35-10.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/zulfrontado/EprVWSejQKcrPB5itiMtGchJqEwTg3SZQawoppdYKMdj8QEtk1aXMuDXDjKFkGXAA7n.jpg) ![photo_2025-08-28_15-35-14.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/zulfrontado/EpJaTcmmYfvEsfVV21yrWxSWcWSj9jdCEDsax3FhHaADFv1HL6VdYiRPLQ6mvppYVg4.jpg) Then I placed them all in a good spot. As you can see, I planted cacti among aloe vera and succulents. This way, I hope my cats won't get too close to the plants. It's also great because it rooted more cacti, which will be useful for sale. ![photo_2025-08-28_15-35-17.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/zulfrontado/EpGS7aVkXAYuSL8U62yNMznwfyBtCFz9dBy8aevw2hmDP7xb5ZsCou6zexpAuMvMuMT.jpg) Yes, yes, I exaggerated a bit. But there's an explanation for everything. This is the palm tree's pot. Unfortunately, cats also make messes in it. So I decided to change the soil and cover it with some stones from the patio. This will help keep them from digging in the pot. ![photo_2025-08-28_15-35-30.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/zulfrontado/EpVCYuuf54oVU96Logsstn3PEYdu3jmjvbT8Nex5DATJqg8oXnxfTtYL7BtK9Y9h62h.jpg) And that's all for today. I placed all the plants in their respective places, and went back to work. Now I can rest assured that all the plants in the garden are doing well. Anyway, as always, there's a lot to do, so I'll bring you new updates on this garden soon. ---
