# ¡Bienvenidos a mi rinconcito en Hive!
La semana pasada volví a hacer un curso de *”Mascotas en Acuarela”* con [@yubisguzman_art](https://www.instagram.com/yubisguzman_art?igsh=MWNkMGdlcnB5d2hqcA==) y para mi grata sorpresa, la mascota que pintaríamos en el curso, fue un perro Doberman y digo para mi sorpresa porque cuando yo era adolescente, en casa teníamos un hermoso Doberman que se llamaba **”Brandon”** al que queríamos muchísimo, no solo por protegernos y ser leal sino porque él era único y especial, por lo que este retrato lo hice pensando en esos momentos lindos y divertidos que vivimos junto a él. Algunos de estos recuerdos se los iré contando más adelante mientras les muestro un poco del proceso de esta pintura.
*Para dibujar a este perrito, usé el método de la cuadrícula. Este método es perfecto para los que estamos aprendiendo a dibujar, pues nos ayuda a que la imagen quede mejor proporcionada. Este retrato fue pintado con acuarela, pero el estilo no es la tradicional pincelada con transparencia, sino colores más pigmentados y muy vibrantes.*
”Brandon”, llegó a nosotros cuando apenas era un cachorro. Fue un regalo que le hicieron a mi padrastro que amaba los perros y los animales en general.
El primer recuerdo que me llega en este momento sobre ”Brandon”, es cuando lo bañábamos y pasábamos horas sacándole las garrapatas y después que estaba bien limpio y oloroso, salía corriendo al jardín y se revolcaba en la tierra. La verdad es que ahora me da mucha risa pensar en esa travesura, pero en aquel momento era frustrante, aunque sé que es completamente normal que los perros hagan esto.
“Brandon cuando estaba descansando en su territorio, era difícil moverlo de ahí. Me explico. Cuando yo limpiaba la casa y tenía que barrer donde él estaba descansando y lo echaba para barrer, no se movía. Me ignoraba completamente. Por lo tanto, no me quedaba de otra que empujarlo con la escoba y así arrastrarlo a otro lugar, por lo que ni se inmutaba, se quedaba donde lo dejaba. Sé que estaba invadiendo su espacio, pero había que hacer la limpieza. Jeje!
En ese tiempo, vivíamos en una ciudad con mucha vegetación y el patio de nuestra casa no era la excepción, por lo que podían llegar algunos invitados exóticos como Iguanas o [Matos de agua](https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tupinambis_teguixin). Bueno, “Brandon” los cazaba y cuando los tenía en sus dominios los agarraba de juguete hasta que el reptil terminaba muerto y después que moría los dejaba tirados en el jardín de la casa. Creo que era su pasatiempos y gracias a Dios, porque yo le tengo miedo a esos animales.
Por otro lado, “Brandon” tenía una paciencia envidiable, pues mi hermano menor que en ese momento tenía unos 4 o 5 años le encantaba jugar con él abriéndole la boca o jugando con sus orejas y “Brandon” siempre se mantuvo calmado. Supongo que entendía que mi hermano era un niño y estaba jugando. Aunque nosotros regañábamos a mi hermano para que no lo siguiera molestando.
Pero no todo fue felicidad y diversión con nuestro perro, pues un vecino intentó envenenarlo, porque “Brandon” hurgaba en su basura y obviamente el vecino estaba molesto con esta situación y amenazó con matarlo, pero nosotros no le hicimos caso y una madrugada “Brandon” empezó a quejarse y cuando fuimos a ver estaba botando espuma por la boca. Gracias a Dios reaccionamos rápido y un tío lo hizo tragar aceite vegetal lo que lo hizo vomitar todo el veneno y así le salvó la vida a nuestro Doberman. Estuvo delicado por un tiempo, pero lo cuidamos muy bien y se recuperó pronto y vivió hasta que ya estaba viejito.
***Todo esto y más recordé de nuestro Doberman “Brandon” cuando estaba dibujando y pintando este retrato y aunque no era a él a quien estaba pintando me sirvió de inspiración y por eso creo que reflejé todo el amor que le tenía a nuestra mascota que también fue un miembro más de la familia.***
Espero les haya gustado el resultado de este retrato que en mi corazón se convirtió en **un homenaje a un amigo fiel** como lo fue nuestro inolvidable “Brandon”.

# Welcome to my little corner on Hive!
Last week I went back to do a *"Pets in Watercolor”* course with [@yubisguzman_art](https://www.instagram.com/yubisguzman_art?igsh=MWNkMGdlcnB5d2hqcA==) and to my pleasant surprise, the pet that we would paint in the course was a Doberman dog and I say to my surprise because when I was a teenager, at home we had a beautiful Doberman named *"Brandon”* whom we loved very much, not only for protecting us and being loyal but because he was unique and special, so I did this portrait thinking about those cute and fun moments we lived with him. I will tell you some of these memories later on while I show you a little bit of the process of this painting.
*To draw this little dog, I used the grid method. This method is perfect for those of us who are learning to draw, as it helps us to get a better proportioned image. This portrait was painted with watercolor, but the style is not the traditional brushstroke with transparency, but more pigmented and very vibrant colors.*
“Brandon”came to us when he was just a puppy. He was a gift from my stepfather who loved dogs and animals in general.
The first memory that comes to me at this moment about “Brandon”, is when we would bathe him and spend hours removing ticks and after he was clean and smelly, he would run out into the garden and roll in the dirt. I actually get a good laugh thinking about that antics now, but at the time it was frustrating, even though I know it's completely normal for dogs to do this.
“Brandon” when he was resting in his territory, it was hard to move him from there. I will explain. When I was cleaning the house and I had to sweep where he was resting and I would throw him out to sweep, he wouldn't move. He would completely ignore me. Therefore, I had no choice but to push him with the broom and drag him to another place, so he didn't even flinch, he stayed where I left him. I know I was invading his space, but it had to be cleaned up. Hehe!
At that time, we lived in a city with a lot of vegetation and the yard of our house was no exception, so some exotic guests could arrive such as “Iguanas” or [“Matos de agua”](https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tupinambis_teguixin). Well, “Brandon” would hunt them and when he had them in his domain he would hold them as a toy until the reptile ended up dead and after it died he would leave them lying in the garden of the house. I think it was his hobby and thank God, because I am afraid of those animals.
On the other hand, “Brandon” had an enviable patience, because my younger brother who at that time was about 4 or 5 years old loved to play with him opening his mouth or playing with his ears and “Brandon” always remained calm. I guess he understood that my brother was a kid and was playing. Although we would scold my brother so he wouldn't keep bothering him.
But not everything was happiness and fun with our dog, because a neighbor tried to poison him, because “Brandon” was rummaging in his garbage and obviously the neighbor was upset with this situation and threatened to kill him, but we did not listen to him and one morning “Brandon” started to complain and when we went to see him he was foaming at the mouth. Thank God we reacted quickly and an uncle made him swallow vegetable oil which made him vomit up all the poison and saved our Doberman's life. He was delicate for a while, but we took good care of him and he soon recovered and lived to be an old man.
***All this and more I remembered about our Doberman “Brandon” when I was drawing and painting this portrait and although it was not him I was painting, it served me as inspiration and that is why I think I reflected all the love I had for our pet who was also a member of our family.***
