A survivor of the Munich Lion Parade (2005/2006)

From May 2005 until November 2006, around 500 colourful lion statues have decorated the streets and squares of Munich, in an event called Münchner Löwenparade (Munich Lion Parade).

The idea behind the exhibition was to add more flavour to the city for visitors during the National Garden Show 2005 and the Football World Cup 2006.

The statues were removed and sold off for values between €1000 and €6000. The proceeds were donated to the children's charity "Münchner Kinder in Not" (Munich Children in Need).

Not all the lions have disappeared. Some of them are owned by the businesses that sponsored them and are located on private property.

There are probably a few more around the city, but this was the only one I've come across, during my 3 day adventure in Munich.

I know it's not a live animal... but it's an animal nevertheless. Right? It should be a valid entry for the #animalphotography category in the photography contest by @juliank

If not, that's OK. I hope you enjoy it, either way!
