Saiki has paranormal powers. But his friends give him a hard time hiding them!
Saiki Kusuo no Psi-nan
This is a very lighthearted series that took me by surprise. It doesn't take itself very seriously, but it's still surprisingly immersive. The protagonist's backstory gives him amazing powers with a few limitations, but nevermind that, because he just wants to live an ordinary life. But that can get complicated. Here's an example.
Even though Saiki is a kind person who just wants to live a normal live, even playing dodgeball with his friends is very difficult. He has a hard time throwing the ball at anything less than the speed of sound, so he either throws it in an embarassing way, or he risks killing his colleagues. Under akward circumstances, he's the only one left standing on his team, despite his best efforts to be the first one out.
If he wins, he'll be too popular and become the center of attention, which he doesn't want to happen. But if he loses in a shameful way, girls won't want to be near him and his classmates will mock him daily. So he has to figure out how he's going to get out of this situation. In the end, despite him being awesome by accident, things turn out the way he wanted as his friend gives him a cheerful hug.
Every episode tells three short stories from his everyday school life. It fees like a 5 minute show to me, despite being a regular 24 minutes long episode. Saiki Kusuo no Psi-nan is a show I highly recommend. Watch it!
