”Excuse me miss? Miss! Helloooo! Yeah hi, remember me? The sourdough starter you fed in the morning and put out of your sight to be forgotten? I demand attention!!”

Day 12 of my sourdough starter journey and he’s finally active and bubbly! I fed it in the morning and once again thought I should probably go and buy a suitable glass jar for it, but alas, didn’t. I filled the container a bit too full, and it backfired because he finally decided to be a full grown starter today.

I set the container high up on an open kitchen shelf, and forgot about it. I did some baking earlier today and just wondered why is there dough on the counter, I was sure I cleaned up already. I wiped the dought off, only for it to happen again later. Then I finally realised it’s the damn starter on the shelf that’s spilling over its confinement.

It’s safe to say my starter is now strong enough to be used to make proper good sourdough bread. I’m really excited. Now I just have to make sure I have a good feeding schedule for the rest of my life and I don’t kill my precious starter. I can’t wait to take some of it with me to homehome next week and bake bread for the whole family.

Yes I’m going glass jar shopping tomorrow.
