Food p**n - home made healthy granola

Not my usual kind of post, but if I recall correctly @karinxxl asked me about it a while ago, and since she makes awesome mouth-watering posts about food, feels more than fair to share my go-to recipe for making granola. So, especially for her, this is how I usually do it! *** There are already a lot of pretty decent quality granola that you can buy nowadays, but home-made granola is really easy to make, it's a lot cheaper, and it's definitely healthier than most commercial brands on the supermarket shelves. So, what do you need? ![20250707_211158.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/pardinus/23uFYCuscZuN9Syqg3bSenzHCyWgUgXeNZQUkRN7izFTzMTP9iMxYr6XoDj9vByBTg6RR.jpg) - **Cereals**: I usually use oats, feels the most healthier option; ideally, whole oats - **Seeds**: I've used linseeds and sunflower seeds - **dry fruits**: almonds and nuts are my usual go-to - something to sweeten the mix - a tiny bit of fat - whatever extra/special ingredient you can think of All the ingredients here are just suggestions; you can use whatever cereals, dry fruits and seed you like the most: go wild! As for proportions, and again, nothing too rigid: 3 cups cereals, 1 cup dry fruits, 1/2 a cup of seeds, 1/4 cup of the sweet stuff, a table spoon of fat... and whatever you want to add to the mix. *** Let's get started! First, get a recipient and start to add stuff: ![20250707_211430.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/pardinus/23tviGjbe83cZ2aBy8EDgBesg6tdGC9KE8MU3zEtfz9e9eJRA5n84csV9NgNh9QNgKd6J.jpg) Oats first, and the off to the dried fruits; I normally blend them a little bit first. ![20250707_211744.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/pardinus/23uFVzhj98pAKWUVZZ5NkGdK8zXk1sDRv9vk6U1aHSAvpxa8yS8XmQ6mT3g82G2ecweoL.jpg) ![20250707_211748.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/pardinus/23vsQDBSBnuxHvRDekuyZimAeBvdedyezSHSiJuB7ovNdhPZNkbFGyoy356e8TTPvcdTz.jpg) Next, the seeds: ![20250707_211828.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/pardinus/23uFVzhjAGsCJn2EdxGVHSfA2vyUmGJuuFjDFXKHAVKSEekkW1ZiAVY3hegnQXGK6mHN6.jpg) Mix everything a little bit... ![20250707_211850.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/pardinus/23vsUmKyGRnBZfBAp1CAvta7zcrTK8S7p3CHg9PLFHQthJCrELLQhGQV7ntc3e1yRedZU.jpg) And then time to start adding the liquid stuff. For the fat, I use coconut oil; now in the summer, it's basically liquid, when it's not I just microwave it for a few seconds. ![20250707_211943.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/pardinus/23w2oQuUMqYKCEKBwktP4PK8LdLcMhJTbxKxCA7vbd9ecV9SGFacdhF7x4hbjYsswL7Xf.jpg) ![20250707_211958.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/pardinus/23wMaX5KfZdGgzPJxBrGny9cWy7C4YRYP357YVv5dBkckHNmeLGQSoSZPByxjgEnyejQW.jpg) Sweet stuff coming up! You can use only one source; I like to use honey, but since I was almost running out of honey, I used coconut sugar also. ![20250707_212131.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/pardinus/23wgPqdsQxEySon3txHVZvpvwDp7QWc5VhBH3S3izkaMXhFFhDEdP7X4Yb19zpAFc2udK.jpg) ![20250707_212249.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/pardinus/23uQtf3uib24pSM7HYiA8qoJgRYHSaA68WSyHyaqhXFLLMfnvhgf86ZW8v3qSfBSF8Yz6.jpg) This time, I also added just a little bit of ginger, for that extra flavour. ![20250707_212420.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/pardinus/23wMaJaAhNpNgCiYLFW67pnQC34AuU93NX8Ne3e9j3iteNPQFtuif6hLdDDSARRusJbL6.jpg) There you go, we have everything that we need! Now, mix everything really well; and then, place it as an uniform layer in a oven tray. ![20250707_212844.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/pardinus/23w2qZDw7vRTqQJtUePsdF4ARr1Hz8DfzCXaRQxRVGMdeMAZf5eEKo9XJubR9DdkRi7k6.jpg) Place the tray in the overn for around 15 minutes, you can stirr it once or twice (also to make sure you're not burning everything!)... ![20250707_212924.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/pardinus/23vhwV8uSomqVsANtXPmvebXWb21JstfmxJ3fxP3ttZ6PbuFPUaTbkk3BPBVsXo28grH5.jpg) ... and voilá! Congratulations, your granola is ready! ![20250707_224208.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/pardinus/23t7oXNtTWvuW5v56RsDqQgpZpVDZA3zFjTjDwNqkbFc48QUzVpdojEZ7Hrwo62y3dSQg.jpg) ![20250707_214616.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/pardinus/23tbydebsF23s9oHHDCx9mQFNNT5TPE8D8ZEe4Hvz5P9QfkNfN1fubnyA6XTMHArxG7SC.jpg) From here, you mix everything again, and place it on a well sealed jar. These quantities are enough for a ton of meals, and the granola easily lasts for weeks if the jar is sealed tight. ![20250707_224559.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/pardinus/23vsQKZZMsq87XEfEnXTzzpkexPuk8QSXdaU4kZNVwwu6EKpbnp5C6fu7SpA1eFWtkEst.jpg) My favourite way of using it? With a good youghurt and fruit, for a healthy and very easy to make breakfast! ![20250708_090741.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/pardinus/23tmL1XHWMQUkPHZFiE3eCgp5dMkvFvWxdRPTcYzctPsP4bQJgPDPQkardS2DZeT1ZMJx.jpg) There are countless websites with great healthy granola recipes; this was likely the first one I've tried, and I loved the general guidelines that make it so easy to do. Besides, since it tasted so great... no changing the winning team, right? :) Enjoy! ![rgazlbwpwi.png](https://img.esteem.ws/rgazlbwpwi.png) ![Hive divider by doze.gif](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/pardinus/G3BmTHaG-Hive20divider20by20doze.gif) Still haven't joined Splinterlands?
