EDITORIAL

Crash! Boom! Bang! Here it comes, our November issue. We've got the keyboards, the heads and some of the feet burning for you. Where the mist rises in the cold, there might be a HiQer.

Tadaaa, we present this month's MVP @ravenmus1c who provides the musical backdrop to our game. She makes you look deep, so you too look into @smooms' article that mentions a secret project.

If you read @kvinna's column, you can feel the suspense building as she once again tells you what's going on behind the scenes at HiQ. You know, the things you might otherwise never know - with permission, of course.

Now you should be as excited as @mima2606 now that you can finally relax and let go by reading @quekery's article on CraftInk. Those who can combine will suspect that this is the secret project. You can find out for yourselves whether this is really true.

However, @queker is not only busy with crypto, but has also tested a game for you together with the Switchdopteur @smooms and the "exceptionally amateurish lazy dogsitter" @mary-me. You can find their results in the article "Crypto Shots + Giveaway".

While @smooms tested the game's pay mode, @mary-me has been busy hitting the keys and creating a file FTX. Centralised or decentralised, that is the question here. Although so much has supposedly already been said about it, you can find her compact conclusion in this issue.

@quekery has written about Actifit. As always, he provides deep details and helpful tips - an article with a Quekery seal of approval. You can also find the testimonials of the three there. Stray with the cat or blame the dogs? Are they fit as a fiddle or are they cheating? Read for yourself, there's plenty to laugh about, even if AFIT doesn't interest you.

Our extremely helpful and appreciated English proofreader @tengolotodo has it all, as his name suggests. For the umpteenth time, he is writing articles and has put aside his proofreading glasses. He doesn't need Actifit for motivation. Will he eventually write the whole issue and we translate and proofread? Check out his articles on "LeoThreads" and "November Monthly Challenges" and judge for yourself.

This issue is very musically inclined. @themyscira has been out and about in the music community. You can read what she found out in her article. @solymi is also taking off with us, he not only podcasts our lyrics (Editor's note: Hivestyyyyyyyle!), but also does a jingle contest - the chance for everyone who wants to show off their skills.

There are now quite a few Hive Live Meetups, so @manncpt has summarised an overview for you in an article here. So be there live instead of in the middle, or vice versa, you know. Although in this case it comes out the same, LOOL.

Last but not least, you will of course find our classics in this issue, like the leaderboard with the most loyal HIQS stakeholders, Gossip, Hivestyle for Hivians - very important for you to be and stay hivestylish at all times. Of course, we also have mail for you again, because your letters to the editor have been answered dutifully, as always.

PS: As always you can participate in the Commentary Discount Sale and get up to 270 HIQS for the price of 0.3 SWAP.HIVE. Just write

!HIQS DesiredAmounts

in the comments. After 2 days we will publish a post at @hiq.shares that will handle the sale.

PPS: Vote HiQs Witness. Now. LOOL!

➀ MVP

When the music plays, we are the ones who listen. This month it has led us to an MVP in a class of her own. @ravenmus1c, who just wants to be called "Raven" by the common people.

Raven has been hard at work on a semi-secret HiQ project for a few weeks now and will become indispensable to us as a musician and sound designer. But that wasn't the reason she was chosen as MVP.

Before she made the commitment to do the music and sound design for our semi top secret HiQ project, she was already delighting the blockchain with her musical outpourings, and was already involved in other projects (Editor's note: Which are less top secret though.) as a musician. Because we celebrate what she does, the choice was not difficult.

We have already spoken to her. It was nice. Working with her is going to be great. We are already looking forward to the first tight music tracks she will provide us with for our semi top secret HiQ project and congratulate her on this month's MVP. ★

➁ THE COLUMN

This time you can read about everything that is going on at HiQ in my column. There is a lot of noise, the gears are running at full speed and there is no stopping them.

The three from HiQ tested the Actifit app. Full of euphoria, they installed it and checked the technical details and found it cool - until then. But now steps have to be taken, which @mary-me should be able to do easily on her large estate with rental dogs. @quekery has his commute and walks to the petrol station because something is off and @smooms is a cyclist and dog owner anyway. They describe themselves as basement kids, whether that's true the app will show, unless they strap the phone to the mouse arm. You can find an article about their experiences with Actifit in this issue.

A new token has seen the light of day. Now you might be wondering what I mean, the HIQS has been around for a while. Well, I'm talking about a brand new one, the INK, the funny blob on the Hive blockchain. Those of you who read the editor's post already know that. So you can storm onto the Hive engine at your leisure and shop around.

Here, no one has become a painter, but the INK belongs to a game, to be precise, to the game that the three are currently designing. @ravenmus1c and @bubblegif are part of the game, bringing sound and colour into play. I think it's about time. @smooms who has probably played pretty much every game there is on the market and is also a programmer, closely followed by @quekery who dances with the Switch and @mary-me, the tamer of bosses in Mir4. If they don't make a game, who else will?

What I've been wishing for for a long time is now fulfilled by @solymi, because he reads our texts and presents them on the Chain as a podcast. Another new account, you will say, but @hiq.smartcast is really an enrichment. For the whole necessary flood of HiQ accounts, I suggested that there should be a closed community where every post appears so you don't miss anything once you hit subscribe there.

Otherwise, @smooms and @quekery almost had ear damage from pressure in tunnels on the way back from their Life Meetup, but they make sacrifices. A somewhat sad fact is that maths topics have been thin on the ground, but @quekery is captivated by programming and is always getting something new to do. However, as a treat, there are freshly signed HiveFest print editions for you hardcore fans of the HiQ core team, so grab them before they go out of stock.

You see, the gears are running hot and the bones are cracking. Because of the implementation of all the ideas and efforts to keep the gyroscope moving to make the Actifit app smoke. So there is little time for "this, that, pineapple", because on the way to even more quality for you, Hivestyle must not fall by the wayside. ★

➂ COVER STORY

A game to support them and plunge them into more work. A token to buy and fund CraftInk. A Shadow Drop to reveal it and in the hiveness play it.

For some time now we have been making jokes about the need for HiQ booster packs. (Editor's note: HiQster?) Why? Well, who doesn't want booster packs? A pack opening with cards from us? Also, we've been trying to sell HiQ NFTs made by @bubblegif on NFT-Showroom for a while now. Not to mention our attempt to turn HiQ issues into NFTs, only to realise that wasn't a good idea as you can just download the file. You just never stop learning, LOOL.

But as we mentioned in the print edition of HiQ (Editor's note: Which you can still buy.), it's a different story with game NFTs. So why shouldn't Team-HiQ also make a game? And what would we need to make a card game? NFT design, game design, programming skills... Luckily we have all the skills in the HiQ editorial team. After a few weeks, the time had come. We started working on the project. And again a few weeks later there was ...

the shadow drop of the ingame token INK. Smart hivestylers have already discovered it and stocked up a bit. (Editor's note: They must have social-engineered us, LOOL.)

CraftInk

Our game will be called "CraftInk" and the ingame token is called INK. The game will be thematically about us and the Hive Blockchain, and since we constantly have ink on our fingers from all the writing and printer cleaning, ink plays a big role. Humour should not be neglected either, after all we do Hivestyle satire and always want to entertain our fans.

The game should be fun, for one thing. Of course, who wants a game that isn't fun? And it shouldn't feel like a clone of [insert your favourite trading card game here]. We did a conspiratorial, secret IRL meet-up the week before last and played our first game prototype and had a blast. Spoiler, both criteria were met.

Play2Earn2Support

Another important aspect of the game is to support HiQ and all the people working on the HiQ project. So part of CraftInk's revenue is to be used explicitly to pay editors.

But if we're going to create hivestylish trading card NFTs, we might as well make editors (Editor's note: And those who might want to become editors. Like, for example, the other "employees" involved in CraftInk.) and give them a share of the income.

INK

So if you're as excited as we are, you can buy INK right now and get involved in funding CraftInk and supporting HiQ editors.

In the game, you will be able to earn INK and purchase certain assets like special booster packs only with INK. But even before that, we will give INK features like staking and diesel pools to gradually build tokenomics around INK. This is also a reason for us to start the token sale now.

The Design

We've already been working feverishly on the card design and @bubblegif is really getting into her NFT artist role. Treat yourselves to this creation, for example. Spoiler alert:

And who knows, maybe YOU will soon be a card too? (Editor's note: Please send bribe money to @bubblegif.)

Wen Lambo

There is no Lambo card yet, LOOL. But we will publish a post about CraftInk on @craftink later this year. Of course, our subscribers will not be left empty-handed for this special event, and neither will all fans of the HIQS token. (Editor's note: Don't spoil so much already!)

PS: If you want to subscribe to us, just write +SUB in the comments. (Editor's note: And we won't tell you how to unsubscribe, LOOL.)

We will continue to work on CraftInk (Editor's note: and our other projects). But you know, anticipation is the best joy, especially at this time of year. ★

➃ COVER STORY

We become pro-gamers. The HiQ editorial team ventures into completely new realms and plays the first playable first-person shooter on Hive - Crypto Shots.

The first first-person shooter on the Hive Blockchain, Crypto Shots, which was developed in the Unity Engine, was penned by @keys-defender. In addition to the connection to the Hive Chain, there is also the option to log in via WAX or Ethereum. We played the Hive version.

In the game, you have the opportunity to earn tokens by defeating enemies on the 3 levels that the game contains so far, which can pay out afterwards on Hive Engine.

In-game, this token is called BOOM. However, if it is claimed at Crypto Shots, it becomes DOOM at Hive-Engine. Crazy, we know. But what else does the game have in store for us?

As you know from Cryptogames, everything here revolves around collecting NFTs with which you can gain advantages in the game. In the levels, you can only collect the weapons for which you have the NFTs.

Unfortunately, it is also the case that you have to have character NFTs of a certain level to be able to enter the higher levels in the game. (Editor's note: In addition to some in-game requirements. Such as: Complete the previous level on "Medium" difficulty or something)

For those who want to try out the game without making a commitment, the free-to-play mode is suitable. You can play levels 1 and 2 without having to pay anything. Only before entering the 3rd level will you be asked to pay 1 HIVE. (Editor's note: Beta testers only pay 0.001 HIVE.) In this mode, however, you do not earn any tokens.

@mary-me, @smooms and @quekery took on the challenge of trying to master the 3rd level on easy. @smooms, as an old shooter bunny, was of course the first. @quekery, as a console purist, naturally wanted to test out a controller right away. He came in second with the Xbox Series X controller. @mary-me as the worst shooter noob at least made it to the boss of the second level in the same time.

We definitely had fun during our session and will definitely visit Crypto Shots more often. Who knows, maybe there will soon be a PVP mode where the HiQoot clan really dominates?

Technically, the game ran smoothly. From time to time, however, we had to deal with small bugs, such as spawning in the wrong place. We really liked the 3rd level and are curious to see what Crypto Shots will offer us in the future. Maybe we'll meet @keys-defender again at the next HiveFest.

(Note from Crypto Shots: If you own the Teleport NFT you always land in the weapon room for all levels. The weird spawn points are a way to reduce the chances of unlocking the Champion status (higher daily BOOM claim) for players that don't have it.)

And because @keys-defender is so generous and full of integrity, we also have another WINNER GAME for you - sponsored by Crypto Shots.

To take part, simply write in the comments whether you prefer to play Crypto Shots with a mouse and keyboard or with a controller and tag 2 friends. The closing date for entries is December 7th 2022.

Here's what you can win:

  • 1 Base Gun (Game Weapon)
  • 1 Rifle (Game Weapon)
  • 1 Shot Gun (Game Weapon)
  • 1 Legendary Ammo
  • 1 Vance Tyrrell (Game Character)
  • 1 Masha Talashova (Game Character)
  • 2 Skin for Elektra (Weapon Skin)
  • 1 Skin for Justice (Weapon Skin)

Three lucky winners will be drawn from all participants. (Editor's note: By the way, a beechen told us that the skins could become really valuable.)

PS: Only full noobs play Crypto Shots with PS4 controller, LOOL. ★

➄ COVER STORY

The problem is not crypto per se, nor too little regulation or anything else.... The problem is centralisation and the rampant corruption and intertwining of crypto and politics.

Even though the mainstream now thinks that the FTX story should be a big setback for the crypto scene, it's a chapter that doesn't really make us Hivians sweat. Real crypto ninjas have always relied on decentralisation and FTX just like Binance and all the other big player crypto exchanges were always just "pass-throughs" for us.

When the case of FTX became known at the beginning of November, none of us knew what FTX was. The first path led us to Lügipedia (editor's note: one-page-pedia, non-decentral-pedia or non-DAO-pedia): Financing rounds worth millions, advertising contracts with Mercedes, Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady actually say it all.

Yes, the question is always: "How did they get so big so quickly? That doesn't necessarily sound like organic growth, LOOL.

FTX's connections to the highest circles of this world are unmistakable. Whether this is a planned conspiracy or not, we cannot and do not want to say at this point. (Editor's note: Although we also like to blether quite often, LOOL.)

Whether Kläuschen Schwab and consorts wanted to dominate or control the crypto market by means of FTX is almost irrelevant. Because centralised structures are a horror to us smart Hivians and whether they are more or less linked to large or small companies or states should generally not affect us.

People network, companies partner up, structures are created and common goals are pursued. These are normal processes that are not in themselves reprehensible, but when it becomes apparent that one or more people are enriching themselves excessively, it leaves a bitter taste in the mouth.

What is now clearly visible is the meekness of the world press towards this issue. It seems as if they are using the FTX case to create sentiment for more regulation in the crypto market. But Hive can also take that in its stride.

Don't be misled and try to avoid the centrally controlled crypto exchanges. But who am I telling... you know all this. What we learn from the case is that decentralised structures are becoming more and more important and we should promote and expand them. ★
