The weekend was pretty busy around here. I didn't have any free time for myself, and to be honest, I'm still feeling a little tired from work. However, this morning I took the time to soak up some sun. When I asked myself how long it had been since I last did that, I felt a little scared. Work tends to absorb us more than it should. Anyway, as I was walking through the garden, I noticed a little giant that I hadn't seen before, a new tenant who doesn't pay rent and benefits from my home, so I have to document it, ha ha ha.
This green lynx spider (Peucetia longipalpis) is the largest I have seen in my garden. I have always seen them, but they are tiny and difficult to photograph without a macro lens. But this cunning hunter is undoubtedly the largest I have ever seen. It caught my attention because I found it when I saw a bee entangled in a couple of spider web threads, and when I looked up, I noticed it was still lurking there.
There is little information available about this spider, which acts as a bioregulator, which is why I left it alone on that purple maguey leaf. Its almost translucent legs reveal the purple color of the leaves through them. I must say that this spider caught my attention. It has probably been on other plants, but because of its coloration, it could have easily gone unnoticed, as is often the case with the smallest ones.
From the little information I have been able to find, in addition to knowing that it is a bioregulatory carnivore, it can eat insects, butterflies, and moths. They can be seen prowling near flowers, waiting for pollinators to attack them. It is not usually found in webs like other spiders. However, it is always attached to the web it weaves. It has venom that, although not toxic to humans, can cause some reactions and pain in the area.

______________________________ El fin de semana estuvo bastante fuerte por aquí, no tuve tiempo libre para mí, la verdad es que, aún siento un poco de cansancio por el trabajo; sin embargo, esta mañana me tome el tiempo para recibir un poco de sol, cuando me pregunte desde cuando no lo hacía, la verdad es que sentí un poco de miedo, el trabajo suele absorbernos más de lo debido, en fin, mientras caminaba por el jardín, me percate de una pequeña gigante, que no había observado anteriormente, una nueva inquilina que no paga alquiler y se beneficia de mi hogar, entonces hay que documentarla jajaja.
Esta araña lince verde (Peucetia longipalpis) es la más grande que he visto en mi jardín, siempre las he visto, pero son realmente diminutas, difíciles de fotografiar sin un lente macro, pero esta astuta cazadora, es sin duda la más grande que he visto, lo que me llamo mucho la atención, a decir verdad, la encontré, pues vi una abeja enredada en un par de hilos de telaraña, y al subir un poco la mirada me percaté de que estaba allí, al acecho aún.
Es poca la información que se puede encontrar acerca de esta cazadora, que funge como un biorregulador, es por ello que la deje tranquila en esa hoja de maguey morado, sus patas casi traslúcidas, dejan ver el morado de las hojas a través de ellas, debo decir que me llamo mucho la atención esta araña, probablemente ha estado en otras plantas, pero por su coloración, pudo haber pasado desapercibida fácilmente, como lo hacen en muchas ocasiones las más pequeñitas.
De la poca información que logre encontrar, además de saber que es un carnívoro biorregulador, puede comer insectos, mariposas y polillas, se les puede ver merodeando cerca de flores, esperando a los polinizadores, para atacarlos, no suele ser encontrada en redes como otras arañas. Sin embargo, siempre está unida a la que teje, posee veneno que si bien no es tóxico para el ser humano, puede causar algunas reacciones y dolor en la zona.
