A warm greeting to everyone in this beautiful Open Mic community. In this week #280, we explore the theme: “Drawing.” I am pleased to share my trumpet performance of “Sunny,” a song influenced by jazz, soul, and R&B, composed by Bobby Hebb in 1966. I have had the opportunity to hear versions by Cher, Frank Sinatra, and Ella Fitzgerald. Hebb wrote it motivated by two events that shook his life, the assassination of John F. Kennedy and the stabbing of his brother. The lyrics are very positive and resilient, speaking of the transition between darkness and light. Every morning when I wake up, I go to the patio and enjoy the sunlight. It represents hope, a reason to live, and the ability to heal the wounds of the soul. The harmony is sophisticated with an ascending chord progression. The rhythm is syncopated and within a 4/4 time signature.

Tengo el agrado de compartir mi interpretación con mi trompeta de «Sunny», una canción con influencias del jazz, el soul y el R&B compuesta por Bobby Hebb en 1966. He tenido la oportunidad de escuchar versiones de Cher, Frank Sinatra, y Ella Fitzgerald. Hebb la escribió motivado por dos acontecimientos que conmocionaron su vida, como el asesinato de John F. Kennedy y el apuñalamiento de su hermano. La letra es muy positiva y resiliente, habla sobre la transición entre la oscuridad y la luz. Cada mañana, cuando despierto, voy al patio y disfruto de la luz del sol. Esta representa la esperanza, una razón para vivir y la capacidad de curar las heridas del alma. Si hay una habilidad que no tengo es dibujar. Recuerdo que cuando era niño dibujaba pequeños bosquejos, pero no eran muy agraciados. Tanto en ese tiempo como ahora creo que mis dibujos son más parte del arte abstracto. Eso no me impide apreciar las diferentes manifestaciones artísticas visuales. Me encanta visitar museos, y ver exposiciones en las calles, ya sea en murales, cuadros, e ilustraciones. Creo firmemente que la pintura es una herramienta para enseñar, testificar y expresar nuestra fe. Cada pintura cuenta una historia y nos conecta con emociones. En mi genealogía coincido con Arturo Michelena, y eso me llena de orgullo y amor por la historia familiar. Espero con todo corazón que aprecien mi interpretación. La música y la pintura tienen una fuerte relación por sus trazos, colores y matices. Bendiciones para todos.
