SMAP Contest ROUND 228 Squacco heron at the mudd hole

I visited a Mudd ole near Wels together with Stefan because some other photographers have spotted the Squacco heron there and yes we had luck and also found it there. It was still there when we came there and I could take some pictures of this seldom heron that is usually only visiting Austria on transit. For these seldom birds that are only visiting for a short time I am happy that I have an app to get some information of birds that have been seen around a specific region during the last days. So I also have the chance to get some pictures of very seldom birds like this one.

When we saw it we tried to get as close as possible but we stayed very cautious that the bird doesn't fly away and feels comfortable with us around. This is why we couldn't get very close and I had to crop these pictures a bit to make it feel appear that I am very close.
