It was a nice day and I decided to walk around the park. There is a place where squirrels live. People often come to feed them and bring them lots of nuts and seeds. The squirrels can't eat everything and bury the food in the ground or leave it in the feeders.
Birds take advantage of this. They fly in during squirrel feeding and watch where the squirrels hide their food, and then try to find it and eat it.
This young magpie came for exactly this reason. She spied where the squirrels hid food and diligently searched for nuts and seeds.
In general, there are always a lot of jackdaws and rooks here, and cheeky jays fly in. Sometimes they fight with each other for food.
There are times when they steal food right from the paws of squirrels, but quickly fly away because the squirrels don't like them for stealing food.
This young magpie was wandering around the grass and the edge of the path where squirrels might bury their food in the sand.
But she was unlucky. Apparently other birds had already dug up the food hidden by the squirrels and eaten it.
