These yellow fellows live mainly in coniferous forests, but can also settle in mixed forests, where I actually took these photos. It is worth saying that siskins are wanderers, or, in other words, eternal nomads. They are not tied to nesting sites, rather, they fly and settle where there is food.
The siskin stands out with its bright greenish-yellow plumage. It has a black cap on its head and a small black spot under its beak. The female is dressed less flashily, has modest plumage and has neither a cap nor a spot under its beak.
Adult birds feed on seeds of grass, alder, birch, coniferous trees. In spring and summer they can add small insects to their diet, such as aphids.
