Green beans - 2nd collage text crop August 2025.jpg

On Monday morning I was up early, due to cutting the new med in half, around 4AM. I worked on photos and posts for a while. Then at 6:30AM when it was light enough, I went out to harvest the rest of the green beans. It took an hour to do, and I was determined to get them all in one bowl.

As they had gone 2 days longer than the first batch, there were a lot more old ones. They made a much larger waste pile in the sink when I finally got around to processing them.

I rested a while after that and tried to get laundry started. I only succeeded in getting my bed half stripped.

When you forget to harvest for several days….

I sat and finished getting both posts up and rested. I got a shower and in looking ahead on my calendar, realized the memorial for the homeschool mom’s husband was Sunday. My friend had wanted to go to the classical concert that day.

I needed to contact the widow friend to see if she was going, as I would need a ride. So I called her. She said she was going to call me as she had gotten a VA payment and was wondering if I had too. When I went to check, it dawned on me I had never paid the bills for the month. Gotta love brainfog…NOT!

It’s forgetting important things like this that really irks me. I was explaining this to the PT woman a bit later, on why I forget to do things that can help with pain, like the exercises or the meds.

PT was quite hard and I was pretty exhausted by the time I got home near 1PM. I rested and ate and rested and finally at 2:00PM I got up and cleaned the kitchen up so I could work on the beans.

It took all afternoon with multiple rests to finish them, around 7PM.

Front pasture - weedwacking done crop August 2025.jpg

My brother had done the weedwacking on Saturday afternoon on the 2 front pastures. The back 40 hasn’t been done all summer. My general helper and I intend to tackle the back 40 starting early Thursday morning, checking fences and picking cordwood out of the grass. We’ve allowed 3 days for this job, and hopefully that will include the 2 front pastures which will be much easier and don’t have poison ivy.

The mulch hay guy brought 20 more bales and had to unload it himself as I couldn’t help. He’ll be bringing 20 more in the next couple days as he’s going away for 2 weeks. I figure better to have too much than not enough, if I should get to the jobs that need it.

My son finally got the wood in the shed stacked. The 3 back rows are almost filled and he has part of a stack in the second side. We may end up with extra wood in bags after all. He and a friend plan to get the wood in front of the shed done on Tuesday.

On Tuesday my helper friend is here and I still have laundry to do, bills to pay, and the kitchen to clean up. I also hope to finish the spring cleaning on the south wall in the office. He has a bunch of errands to run too, so we will see.
