This morning, I took a stroll starting from the car park at the historic mining village of Jacksdale in Nottingham, UK along the River Erewash, under an overcast sky.

This area is quite overgrown with very tall bulrushes in the river.

Not far into my walk, I came across an old stone bridge at the Portland Basin, which is affectionately known by locals as 'Humpy' or 'Humpty'. This bridge was lovingly restored in 2019, and volunteers have made a big contribution to creating a really interesting walking area.

At this point, I double backed to the beginning of my walk and explored the footpath in the opposite direction.

Next to the River Erewash is the Cromford Canal. If you are lucky you will be able to see plenty of wildlife such as, water voles and kingfishers. Unfortunately, not today. This is one of the bottom locks heading out of Jacksdale village.

I'm all for alternative art but when I know it's been done by people who drop litter, that's a different matter. If I had taken a bag with me I would have taken the litter away and put in the bin.๐Ÿšฎ

It's a good thing that this ragwort plant is situated in the nature reserve where it's a bit overgrown. Sometimes, you see it in fields and it is poisonous to horses, as it damages their liver.

It was a nice, pleasant walk all on the flat. There weren't too many people out apart from a few dog walkers. ๐Ÿ• I will definitely take a bag next time to not just pick the litter up, but to pick the apples as well. ๐ŸŽ
