The steak that I ordered. This picture was taken by my Samsung A53

Growing up, I didn't like meat. I'm not vegan or vegetarian, but at that time, I just didn't like the taste of meat. The only proteins that I love and am willing to eat are just vegan protein, egg, and fish.

I don't know when, but I started to eat meat. To be precise: grilled beef (and some kind of meatball). I love barbecue, and I like steak. Every time I have a chance (and money), I would mark my calendar as "steak hunt time".

And here I am. Sitting in one of the fancy sky dining restaurants in Kuala Lumpur, picking my dinner from the menu. This restaurant, Envi Skydining, has a wide selection of food and drinks on the menu, and my eyes immediately fell on their steak selection.

I chose a 220-gram Black Angus Rib-eye with Dijon Cream Sauce. They have various sauces like blue cheese, black pepper, and port wine. I never tried dijon before, so I chose it.

I also ordered Ice Mint Tea, pizza, pasta, and dessert for sharing.

The Famous Twin Tower! Sadly I can't see both of the tower from here, but it's still beautiful. This picture was taken by my Samsung A53

This restaurant is on the 40th floor, only 400 meters from the iconic Petronas Twin Towers. The venue is really breathtaking. After ordering our dinner, my friends and I went outside to take pictures while waiting.

They have a dock where you can enjoy the city view from above. To be honest, I was expecting to see the Twin Towers as a twin (IYKWIM), but I can only see one from this side. That's fine anyway, this tower still looks awesome.

Oh, I forgot to mention, I went to Kuala Lumpur for an international event. I met new friends from other countries, like the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. We talk about many things, from global issues to Christian Bautista.

Not gonna lie, we waited quite a long time for our dinner. I'm grateful to have met new friends, so waiting doesn't feel so bad.

I tried to lighten this steak photo so you can see what was inside much better. The restaurant is dimly lit and romantic, so I'm afraid the photo isn't very clear. This picture was taken with my Samsung A53.

And here is my steak!

My first impression: I thought it was bigger than that (lol) until I found pasta under my meat. Besides the meat and pasta, it also has carrots, broccoli, and mashed potatoes.

Let me break down. The carrot pieces were a little too large, but cooked perfectly. Not too mushy, but not too tough either. The carrot flavor was predominantly natural sweet, perfectly complemented by a little salt and pepper. The broccoli isn't too mushy, either. It's more savory thanks to the sprinkling of salt and pepper, but not overly so.

The mashed potatoes were very soft and light. Their texture contrasted nicely with the pasta, which was still al dente. Perhaps my culinary knowledge and experience are lacking, but I've never had a steak with potatoes and pasta served together. Usually, we just choose one or the other. So, for me, the carb portion was a bit too much.

Now, let's try the meat! I ordered medium-rare. I think it was medium to medium-well. When I bit into it, the meat was very tender and juicy. Compared to Wagyu, Black Angus does have a denser yet tender texture. It also tastes meatier because it has less fat than Wagyu. But because Black Angus still has a fairly good level of marbling, it's still juicy despite being denser.

Look, it's medium, right? This picture was taken with my Samsung A53.

The meat's flavor was simple yet sumptuous. When I ate it with sweet carrots, the combination of different textures, coupled with the fresh, savory flavor of the meat, created a delicious sensation. Oh, and the meat was also very easy to cut, even though it looked stringy.

Then I tried the sauce... honestly, this Dijon sauce wasn't my style. I'm at a loss for words, but basically, I didn't like it. I even Googled it to find out what the base ingredients were.

Dijon sauce is basically made from Dijon mustard mixed with honey, lemon juice, and garlic. I also faintly detected hints of chicken stock and black pepper. Dijon mustard itself is made from brown mustard seeds mixed with vinegar, white wine, and salt. If I had to guess, the most dominant flavors seemed to be the honey, brown mustard seeds, and sourness. So, it's like something quite dense but slightly sour. I'm at a loss for words.

My beautiful cheesecake. I swear someday I will be back, buy the same menu, and eat this till the end. This picture was taken with my Samsung A53.

To be honest, I forgot what I ordered for dessert. But I remember it was cheesecake with Oreos--something. My first impression: BEAUTIFUL! I swear! As soon as it was served, I immediately felt bad about eating it.

The strawberries weren't sour, but they weren't too sweet either. The berries were sweet, too. The Oreos were, well, Oreos. But the cheesecake...

Honestly, maybe because I'm used to very soft cheesecakes, I was a bit surprised that this one was denser. The dark chocolate topping and the chocolate cake underneath were quite thick and dense. The cheesecake flavor wasn't too "kicked."

But what really bothered me was that I couldn't finish this dessert. I probably only had 2-3 bites because I had to rush to the next location for the durian party.

Oh, by the way, the Mint Iced Tea was delicious, but it tasted like a typical Twinings tea bag. It's actually recommended not to drink tea after meals, especially ones containing protein. Tea contains tannins and polyphenols, which bind iron. So, drinking tea after a meal, especially after eating meat, prevents our bodies from getting the full nutritional benefits of the meal.

I know, but I still ordered iced tea. Well, sometimes we order and eat something just to satisfy ourselves, right?

I don't eat durian, but this looks good and beautiful. This picture was taken with my Samsung A53.

Nope, these durians aren't from the same restaurant. To get there, we need to ride the taxi to the highway for around 30 minutes. It's so freaking far, dude.

I, sadly, didn't eat durian. I can't eat durian. But I want to join the party just because I don't want to be alone at the hotel on Saturday night.

I don't know much about durian, but this looks beautiful. My friend said the taste is also different. It's very sweet yet dense. Here, they have a specific order for eating durian. So, some durians should be eaten first before trying the others for maximum flavor and experience.

It's a shame I don't eat durian. Have any of you tried it?
