Hey Hive!

We're back with more restaurantours! This was from back in Dec 2024, when we got invited to a Christmas buffet dinner with my in-laws and extended relatives!

image.png

The restaurant we were going to is located within this hotel called Paradox Hotel, called Ellenborough Market Cafe. It looked and sounded really fancy. We arrived ahead of time before the buffet was open though so had to wait for a bit.

image.png

The interior of the restaurant looks quite fancy as well, with all these big marble tables.

image.png

There's even a pond in the middle of the restaurant for some reason.

image.png

The restaurant itself is pretty big too, with a platform leading to more tables in the back.

image.png

We were among the first few parties to arrive for the buffet so we could maximise our time there and have first pickings of all the food!

image.png

From the name of the restaurant you'd think they would specialise in European food or something but they had quite a variety of cuisines. I guess because it is still in Singapore after all, a melting pot of cultures.

image.png

Of course since it was a Christmas buffet they had different meat platters like Grilled Chicken, Grilled Spicy Pork and Grilled Prawns. There was also pork knuckle and roast chicken.

image.png

There was also a salad station and sushi section as well, basically all the cold food.

image.png

I tried some of the sushi but it was pretty meh compared to my favourite sushi so I passed on it afterwards.

image.png

There was a pretty substantial Asian food section as well, with hot dishes where I got most of my food. They had some pretty standard braised dishes, pasta, and other fried stuff including this whole fried fish in mala sauce.

image.png

This was my first plate and I wanted to try the different meat they had, and some grilled vegetables that looked pretty good.

image.png

There were also some different Western and Chinese soups, but I think this soup was better. It was light and tasty with vegetables and meatballs.

image.png

I took quite a few plates but after I was getting full I just went back for my favourites.

image.png

Unfortunately we were seated quite a ways away from the main dishes. The nearest tables to us had desserts and there were a lot of them. Of course since it was a Christmas buffet they had quite a few Christmas-themed desserts.

image.png

These Christmas bears sittings in cups of chocolates and nuts looked so cute but I thought they were just for display.

image.png

There were some log cakes and eclairs as well as some other cakes as well.

image.png

There were so many colourful nonya kueh that made such a lovely display.

image.png

There were lots of different jellies and syrups you could mix together for a traditional Asian dessert.

image.png

They even had a huge chocolate fountain with different fruits and snacks you could dip in the chocolate.

image.png

Sean and I shared a plate of desserts and we tried a bunch of different things. The chocolate cakes were actually really good!

image.png

I was really stuffed by that time though and this mango sago pudding really hit the spot although it wasn't as fruity as I would've liked.

image.png

I was so stuffed by the end and the buffet was still pretty full despite the pretty decent crowd. Sean's relatives seemed to also enjoy the buffet quite a bit. All in all, it was a fantastic meal and a great end to the year!

image.png

The hotel had a very nice Christmas tree that I thought we took a photo in front of, but I guess we didn't since we already took a photo in the restaurant.

Either way, I'd recommend this buffet and restaurant with a decent spread, nice furnishings and comfortable atmosphere.
