Hello everyone at Korean Hive Village 👋 ‎ ‎This time, I want to talk about a Korean drama that is currently trending on Netflix. It's called Bon Appetit , Your Majesty. It's crazy, it just aired and it's already trending everywhere, even reaching the top spot on today's TV chart. I was just curious at first... but then I got hooked and watched it for hours without stopping.

What's the plot like?

So... the main character is a top chef from the present day. One day, without warning , he suddenly travels back in time to the Joseon era. Just imagine, after tinkering with recipes in a modern, high-tech kitchen, he suddenly finds himself standing in the middle of an ancient royal palace full of strict rules... ‎ ‎What makes it interesting is that in the palace, he meets a king who is known to be cruel and difficult to trust. But our chef has a unique weapon : modern fusion cuisine that no one in the past has ever tasted! Slowly but surely, through each dish, the king's cold heart begins to melt. At first , I thought it would be cliche, but the execution is cool and makes you want to keep watching episode after episode.

Characters Who Touch Your Heart

  • The Beautiful Chef (Lim Yoon-a) Her character is very energetic , often making people laugh because she is a bit clumsy when she's not in the kitchen. But once she starts cooking , everyone is immediately amazed. What I like most is that she remains true to herself even though she has to adapt to an environment that is completely foreign to her...

  • The Fierce King (Lee Chae-min) This is the one who makes your heart pound. At first , his aura is very intimidating, cold, and firm, making anyone think twice about defying him. But as the story progresses , we get to see another side of him that is fragile and lonely. His chemistry with the chef? Oh my god, it makes me want to scream every time they have a scene together...!

  • The Ambitious Concubine (Kang Hanna) Her presence adds spice to the story. She clearly doesn't want an outsider suddenly entering and getting the king's attention. As a result , the palace's political intrigue and drama become even more complicated. But it's precisely because of her that the plot becomes more exciting and less monotonous...

Scenes That Stick in Your Mind

‎ ‎There is one scene that still sticks in my mind to this day. At that time, the chef made a super simple menu, just rice with a simple side dish. But the way he presented it was different from usual, more modern and artistic. The palace people were stunned, especially the king, who had been dismissive at first. From that moment, it became clear that food can be a universal language that connects two different eras. ‎ ‎There was also a hilarious part when the chef slipped into modern slang, using terms for modern cooking techniques that the Joseon people wouldn't understand. Their confused and surprised expressions made me laugh uncontrollably. ‎ ‎But don't worry, it's not all lighthearted scenes. There are many heavy and tense moments, especially when the chef has to fight hard to survive amid competition and threats from the palace people. My emotions went up and down throughout the show.

Visuals and Atmosphere

In terms of appearance, this drama is very luxurious. Every cooking scene is crafted in great detail, to the point that we can imagine the aroma and taste. If you are the type of person who gets hungry easily when seeing food on TV, you better prepare some snacks before watching. Seriously! 😂

The Joseon palace setting is also impressive. The magnificent traditional costumes, luxurious room decorations, and even the traditional tableware are all beautifully crafted. It feels like we are being transported into their world.

Reasons Why You Should Watch This

In my personal opinion, Bon Appetit, Your Majesty successfully brings a breath of fresh air to the Korean drama genre. It's rare to find a drama that can mix elements of time travel, cuisine and royal intrigue... but still be enjoyable to watch and not confusing. ‎ ‎This drama is perfect for: ‎✔️ Those who love royal dramas but are bored with the same old stories ‎✔️ Food lovers and fans of mouthwatering cooking shows ‎✔️ Those who want complete entertainment: funny, suspenseful, romantic—it has it all

For me, this drama has become a comfort show that soothes my heart and makes my heart race at the same time. Who would have thought that just from a plate of food, such a sweet relationship and story could be born. ‎ ‎Now I want to ask all of you at Korean Hive Village:

👉 If you suddenly found yourself stuck in the Joseon era like the chef in this drama, what skill would be your weapon of choice for survival? Cooking, drawing, singing, or would you just be confused? 😆 ‎
