Hello Hive
Pleasant Afternoon to my Hive community and creative needle workers here. I'm happy writing this blog and more happy because our children are doing well in their academics.
Everyone who know my personalities knows that I love children and have been involved in the raising of my sister's children right from the onset of their birth. I am that aunty that makes beautiful clothes for everyone and even assist them most especially to keep a memorable birthday in beautiful wear.
Today we are not sewing a birthday wear but a graduation dress gift I am giving my little niece for performing excellently well in her examinations. She came 1st position in her class, learnt her rhymes well and is making progress in her school. I have promised to gift every kid in the family something and guess what I have about 3 of them gat came home with good report cards.
For my niece it is very much easy to get something for her, since I can sew a gift of a new dress is every welcome. There is always that joy happiness and dancing that follows every new dress I make for her and I can't wait to see that expression again when she gets back from school today. The school is vacating today after they held their end of the year parties last weekend.
Most times I make new clothes for her but this time around I am very much financially buoyant and decide to recycle an outfit for her.
Rather than throw these dress away she can stull rock them for a good while, it was a dress I had made for one of my girls whom she has outgrown .
Picking up the dress I had to recut the dress to her size, starting with sleeves here
And then a cap for the dress, I hot zippers too
And then move to cut the waist and a lace material to sit on the main green fabric
I started with stitching the necklines and shoulder
Then I stitched in the cap to the necklines
Then it was zipper o'clock
And then I stitched the other seam lines
Instead of weaving the edges of the cape and sleeve I decided to use a decorative shear scissors for it
That was done and the dress came out lovely. My niece will hardly tell if this dress is new or a revamped one, after all a gift is a gift 🤣🤣🤣😆🥰🥳🥳
