Creating Joy and Happiness for friends and Family. Sewing my sisters birthday dress.

Hello Hive

A pleasant new week to the beautiful family here. I am delighted to be back and be able to share with you another of my projects that makes myself and my sister happy.

It's been 3 days since I have been away from Hive, and it was totally unexpected as I suddenly got sick and had to go for emergency treatments. I wasn't expecting that I would break down at this time of the year when all I have been doing recently is resting from all the severe work of last year; it must have been an accumulation of stress. It's good that I got some medical attention, and now I'm back on my feet. Such a delight to be revived and full of energy and enthusiasm again.

Sewing for me is not just about making new outfits every day but also the purpose to which we make these clothes; they are really important.

We make clothes to celebrate different occasions, as we must look good on those days to keep good pictures and make memories.

Other times I sew clothes for people who are less privileged and almost unable to clothe themselves. We all know how difficult the times can get, and sometimes our friends and neighbors find it difficult to wear new clothes. You won't want to have a friend wearing the same old clothes when you can sew them new ones cheaply.

I was most happy some time ago when the sewing project at hand was making new school uniforms for indigenous people of my locality. I also sew a new school uniform for my niece too. That way they won't have to wear torn uniforms to school.

Today is another of such sewing projects that makes me really happy. My elder sister will be celebrating her birthday tomorrow, and I wanted to create the new year's memory for her. Someone had earlier gifted her this lovely fabric print, but she wasn't fortunate enough to get the accessories needed to sew fabric.

To make any outfit, you will be needing some linings, zippers, and the likes; the fabric has been with me for a while, hence I decided to foot the accessories bill and make a dress for her.

This will be coming as a pleasant surprise for her since I had gone ahead and purchased these organza accessories for $2.

Accessories are so expensive these days that a meter of this costs $0.5.

I got two meters at first, and they are not enough for what I want to make.

I chose to make a very simple style for her since my health is challenged, and I'm not meant to start with any rigorous tasks for now. Cutting out the bubu dress

I didn't cut out a common or usual neckline but went creative with the neckline and cut an asymmetric neckline instead.

And then I cut the organza in 11" width and had it weaved.

Stitching was next before I pleated the organza round the dress.

There was no power supply to sew with my electrical machine this morning; hence I had to struggle with the manual.

And since her birthday is tomorrow, I had to get this dress ready for her to take pictures by evening or by tomorrow morning. It's going to be a birthday without cake, but she will be happy to keep a picture of the memory of this beautiful day.

I started sewing and the organza got exhausted and I have to go search for more now in order to complete the outfit.
