For today I made this African print fabric dress for my sister which she will be needing to attend a child dedication ceremony coming up this weekend. I love the fact that my people cherish our African print fabric so much and would appreciate dressing in our local or cultural designs for any occasion rather than just a jean on top.

Wearing cultural wears for occasions like naming ceremony, marriage, and cultural engagement often add colors to our occasions but for a birthday party or an evening party or just a visitation for some sight seeing, I may feel just great wearing a jean and a top.

Whenever there is a cultural program or an event like this, the celebrant often purchases a common cloth for his or her invited guest. Everyone is meant to be dressed in that uniform and such uniformity equally adds some beauty go our occasions.

Here is the fabric that was choosing for the child dedication Event which my sister purchases 3yards of it

Lucky for her she doesn't have to spend on sewing each time she purchases an African print fabric. Monica is always here to help out with the sewing.

I got the lining and everything useful for this sewing project.
I stated by drawing a bustier pattern using my sister's measure my on the fabric.

Next I had cut the back bodice
too adding zipper allowance. I equally cut out the linings in a similar manner

Having done that I then proceed to cut the lower parts of the clothes.

Then sewing began.
The first aspect of sewing is turning the necklines with the linings. The side seams, shoulder and other where all joined together before I gave it a good press.

After that I equally joined the lower piece here.
My sister had desired that I sew her a peplum blouse and top but immediately I started working and cutting each piece after the other the fabric was soon exhausted

And the part I had cut to make the skirt was henceforth joined to the upper bodice to convert the intended skirt and blouse into a dress.

Next were the sleeves which I decided to cut and sew an over lapping sleeve for her here.

Having stitched all the parts I gave it to her to try out the basic fitting before I closed up the dress and give it a final press for the weekend event.

This was how I converted my sister's
intended skirt and blouse into a gown for her
