Si te gustan los **pantalones de talle alto** seguro sabrás que los pantalones de caballero **son muy geniales,** la cintura es alta y estrecha (¡y tienen bolsillos con mucha capacidad!), a nosotras las chicas se nos ven geniales, por eso cuando encontré este pantalón ejecutivo de la marca **"OffShore"** supe qué quería hacer con el:
_Aunque aclaro que tarde muchos días en lograr que esta falda quedara bien porque por la forma en que lo corté las piezas no coincidían fácilmente._
If you like **high-waisted pants**, you'll know that men's pants **are really cool**, with a high, narrow waist (and roomy pockets!), and they look great on us girls, so when I found these executive pants from the brand **“OffShore”**, I knew what I wanted to do with them:

En este tipo de proyecto **no me gustan los atajos,** muchas personas cortan los pantalones pero a mi me gusta descoserlos a mano con cuidado. Notaras que en la mayoría de tutoriales que encuentras por internet, las personas descosen el centro del pantalón, cruzan la tela del frente y el reverso, vuelven a coser y listo, **veras que aqui no fue el caso.**
> In this type of project, **I don't like shortcuts.** Many people cut the pants, but I like to carefully unpick them by hand. Para mi maxi-falda quería una unión **limpia y recta en el frente y la parte posterior,** con unas aberturas altas a los lados. Para eso doble el pantalón, y luego hice un corte recto atravesando la linea que corresponde a la cadera, despues **descocí las 4 partes que componen las piernas** y planche todo a temperatura media para que fuera mas facil marcarla y coserla en los siguientes pasos.
> For my maxi skirt, I wanted a clean, straight seam at the front and back, with high slits at the sides. To do this, I folded the pants, then made a straight cut across the hip line. Este proyecto de transformación **fue un proceso algo largo y tedioso porque ninguna linea original de los pantalones funcionaba** para lo que yo quería; por ejemplo antes de hacerle la puntada de seguridad a los bordes de todas las piezas, hice varios ensayos cosiendo la falda solo con una puntada recta al máximo de largo que lo permitía la maquina...

**La verdad se veía horrible,** tenía unos picos extraños en las caderas y unas enormes bolsas tanto en la parte posterior como la unión del frente, como si tuvieras una segunda barriga. Cosí y descocí todo unas 7 u 8 veces.

Entre cada prueba de coser y descocer logré solucionar las bolsas extrañas que se hacían en las caderas, y pude avanzar un poco haciendo los dobladillos de las aberturas que irían a cada lado de las piernas. **El dobladillo sí me quedó muy bonito al primer intento, me sentí orgullosa** 🥰
Between each attempt at sewing and unpicking, I managed to fix the strange bags that were forming at the hips, and I was able to make a little progress by hemming the openings that would go on each side of the legs. **The hem turned out really nicely on the first try, I felt proud** 🥰
✦ The AI that cleans up the background of photos cut off part of my body in the middle photo. I'm not that skinny! But hey, look how cute the waistband of these pants-turned-skirt is. It's quite high and comfortable! Note that the bottom of the skirt is also incomplete; the final seams had not yet been made ✦
Si comparas las fotos de acá arriba con las del resultado mas abajo, notaras algo entraño en el frente de la falda, un bulto o exceso feo de tela, **ESE FUÉ MI NÉMESIS EN ESTE PROYECTO,** estaba muy molesta porque por más que quitaba tela ese bulto seguía alli y se veía cada vez peor 😤 😤 😤
Al final, **la solución a ese problema fue buscar mi regla de costura para camisas** y usar su lado mas largo para cambiar totalmente la línea guía de todo el frente de la falda (estaba muy agudo, una curva mas suave solucionó el problema).
If you compare the photos above with the results below, you will notice something strange at the front of the skirt, a bulge or ugly excess of fabric. **THAT WAS MY NEMESIS IN THIS PROJECT.** I was very annoyed because no matter how much fabric I removed, that bulge was still there and it looked worse and worse 😤 😤 😤
In the end, **the solution to that problem was to find my shirt sewing ruler** and use its longer side to completely change the guide line of the entire front of the skirt (it was very sharp, a smoother curve solved the problem).

Hay algunas fotos interesantes de esos días de costura que se perdieron, mañana con buena luz natural tomare fotos nuevas y las agregaré a este post, por hoy es de noche y también esta lloviendo, **pero estaba muy ansiosa por compartir este recorrido creativo con la comunidad y no quería esperar mas** 🙏 💙 💦
De este proyecto aprendí que **las faldas rectas no funcionan bien con los cuerpos de curvas pronunciadas,** la tela se entierra en los lugares equivocados y por eso debes, literalmente, hacer estas modificaciones a medida (los "tutoriales de 5 minutos" no funcionan aquí, a menos que tengas un tipo de cuerpo de silueta recta).
Incluso colocándote la prenda al reves **y sujetar las modificaciones poco a poco con alfileres** se hace necesario en caso que no tengas un maniquí que emule tus medidas para trabajar sobre el (; ω ; )ヾ(´∀`* )

From this project, I learned that **straight skirts don't work well with curvy bodies,** the fabric bunches up in the wrong places, and that's why you literally have to make these alterations to fit (the “5-minute tutorials” don't work here, unless you have a straight body type).
Even putting the garment on backwards **and pinning the alterations little by little** is necessary if you don't have a mannequin that emulates your measurements to work on (; ω ; )ヾ(´∀`* )

**Este es un proyecto que definitivamente repetiré,** me gusta muchisimo el resultado porque en tiendas no he conseguido faldas de este estilo y diseño que me queden bien (mi cintura es S o M pequeña y mis caderas con L o XL dependiendo el origen de la falda); ya comencé a descoser un pantalón Levi´s de tela oscura espectacular, y tengo altas expectativas con el resultado.
Y en cuanto a este pantalón, **ahora mi nueva y cómoda falda diy, próximamente compraré productos para teñirlo y renovar su color original verde olivo,** y claro que tomaré fotos del proceso para compartirlo con todos ustedes 🫒 💚 👏

**This is a project I will definitely repeat.** I really like the result because I haven't been able to find skirts of this style and design in stores that fit me well (my waist is S or small M and my hips are L or XL depending on the origin of the skirt). I've already started unstitching a pair of spectacular dark fabric Levi's jeans, and I have high expectations for the result.
As for these jeans, **now my new and comfortable DIY skirt, I will soon buy products to dye them and restore their original olive green color,** and of course I will take photos of the process to share with all of you 🫒 💚 👏
