Spontaneous Crochet Necklace in Refreshing Pastels with a Tunisian Crochet Flower

After all day rushing around yesterday, I sat down in the evening and had not really planned to crochet, but the needle in front of me was so tempting, so I picked up a few excess yarn and created something.

It has been really warm here, so I chose refreshing colours, pastel brown, sage and soft pink that look fresh and cooling.

I had no plan what to make as I was pretty knackered, so I was just doing multiple chains, but then I thought a necklace would be good. One thing I like about crochet is that I can free my mind up and just let the idea flow on the spot.

So I made five chains using a 3mm hook, two in brown.

Three in sage.

Then I twisted them and secured both with a tie near the ends.

For the flower (with Tunisian crochet)

First, I made 32 chains.

SC into the 4th chain from the hook.

Ch 2, skip 2 chains, SC. Repeat to the end.

Petals:

Sl st into the first space, ch 5.

DC and pull through 2 loops twice (2 loops remaining).

Repeat this 7 more times in the same space (8 loops on the hook).

Yarn over and pull through one loop.

Yarn over and pull through two loops at a time until only 1 loop remains.

SC into the 2nd space, then SC into the next two spaces.

Ch 2, sl st into the same space, SC into the space again.

SC into the next three spaces.

Ch 5

Sl st into the base space.

Repeat.

Finish off, leaving a long tail.

Roll the piece into a flower and secure it by sewing through the layers of the base a few times with a needle and yarn, and pull it firmly together.

For a brown accent, I made a magic ring, worked 5 SC into it, and attached it to the flower’s center.

Done!

I attached it to the chains securely.

It was such a relaxing little project, but very satisfying and easy to make.

And I wore it all day today, a comfortable piece to wear as it is not heavy.
I even received some lovely compliments!

Happy crocheting,
Have a wonderful day,
Mariah 💗😊
